Sad to see this news although she lived to a good age:-

Maggie Smith, Patricia Routledge, Prunella…. another icon gone. 🙁

My Dh quotes that line frequently @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g !

Saw her a couple of days ago (again) in Hobson's Choice playing one of the daughters. Lovely to see her young. It was made in 1954 so she must have been 22!

It is sad news. I love After Henry that she was in during the 1980s. A completely different part to Fawlty Towers.

She and Tim seemed utterly devoted. Together again now.

I was so heartened to hear her children say that she had died at home. Years ago I remember reading an interview with Tim in which he said that Prunella was such a complete homebody that she didn't even like opening the front door to put the milk bottles out.

After Henry was brilliant - I wish they’d show it again.

It looks like you can watch After Henry on YouTube @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER if that's any solace.

Who will replace the Grand Old Dames of stage and screen?

Sad but suspect her life had been very difficult since Tim died.

There was an interview with Sam (her son) fairy recently where he said that mercifully, due to her advanced dementia she was unaware that Tim had died.

Well, I'd like to think that Sarah Lancashire and Imelda Staunton will step up to that role.

Oh, that's terribly sad. Reminds me of a heartbreaking conversation I had with an acquaintance recently whose parents were both in residential care with dementia. Her Dad fell ill and died in hospital. She said they'd decided not even to tell her Mum, let alone take her to the funeral, because her Mum wouldn't be able to remember any of it and would be terribly distressed again and again and again.

Sad news. She was absolutely perfect in the role of Sybil.

Oh bless her. She will have been missing him, a partner with dementia who survives one without it is not in a good position.
Go well Prunella, lovely lady and wonderful actress.
And what a great name! Imagine calling your baby girl Prunella, there'd be a Mumsnet furore! 😂

She wasn't told Tim had died, so she was unaware
