Reminds me of the Joyce Vincent case. Just so sad, how could it take so long for someone to look for her?

That is a very sad read. The saddest to me was this young 23 year old only "chatted" with chatgbt. No texts with family or friends. But thinking about it, my family is thousands of miles away. I have school gate mum "friends " and we have lovely neighbours but don't walk into each other's homes. If my husband was travelling on a mission which he occasionally does and I died, I would not be discovered till he came back. I have told my 4 and 7 year old if they find me unresponsive to go and tell one of the 2 neighbours or even a third who we talk to on a hi basis. Mobile phones can be a bit complicated for kids unlike ground phones. It so sad that the world has gone bigger in terms of population and connectivity yet manynof us are more alone than ever.

It beggars belief. The article mentions both her mother and sister who presumably didn't know where she lived.

Her family commenting she will be missed every day is awful, if they loved her so much why on earth didn’t they check in with her on a regular basis? At least she died in bed, hopefully in her sleep. What a tragic story.

This is what I thought too! I mean, my Mum isn't particularly 'mumsy' or attentive but I know damn well that she'd never let me just 'disappear' like that, even now as a 40 odd year old let alone when I was young like that. There's obviously a lot more to this story but it actually made me feel very sad this morning.

I dont think it's fair to speculate we have no idea why there was no contact with family it might have been her choice.

It's quite clear from this article and others about this case that the mum and sister had been looking for her, but did not know where she lived. She was actively disengaging from every human contact, and was not in contact with anyone at all. If people don't want contact and don't respond to efforts to find them, then they can be incredibly hard to find and keep in contact with.

I don't think it's fair to suggest that they didn't care or didn't try to find her. And as an adult, she did have the right to cease contact with her family, if that was her choice, even if it was for reasons that no one else would have thought justified.

Indeed. Many of us won't be able to comprehend how this could happen in our own families because it simply wouldn't happen like this, but clearly there was a different dynamic here.

Dreadfully sad for all involved
