decision paralysis

Does anyone else have this? From the boring to the important does anyone else has problems making decisions so it impacts their life.
Usually involving buying things.

Mine include - meal deals I just cannot cope
Electrical items- eg new microwave
Furniture
Stupid things like bedding or a candle
Holidays it might be awful

It’s so bad now that I rarely get these items.

i have and I am medicated for anxiety int he past 6 weeks.

when I’m picking a sandwich for example I have to tell myself just pick one it doesn’t matter and it’s not the last one you will ever have. It seems like a huge treat to me and feel I need to pick carefully. Friends go in and grab the first one they see. I have to review every single item and check the calories and the price to see if I am getting a good deal and then which one I would prefer.

We needs a new microwave and the same complexity here.

I do think the amount of choice available can be overwhelming. When you've decided what microwave to buy, you then have to decide where to get it from.

I can relate

I’m glad I m not alone.

And yes @Needtosoundoffandbreathe which microwave and then who has the best deals/ refund and delivery policy and where to get discounts from. I just cannot process all this!

I find not putting myself under the pressure to make an instant decision helps. Save things to Pinterest, etc then revisit when you've a bit of time to look into things. Look at reviews.

Almost inevitably, if you have no fixed ideas about something there will be loads of choice. If you've decided you want something specific with a particular feature, you won't be able to find it. If you compromise on what you want, the perfect thing will come onto the market once you can no longer return what you bought. It will be cheaper too. That's life!

Are you neuroDiverse?

mydogisanidiott · 27/10/2025 15:17

No or at least not diagnosed.

@Needtosoundoffandbreathei do all of that and it doesn’t work.

inevitably i always make a poor decision as I spend so long thinking about it.
