Folliculitis - sick to death of it

Does anyone have any advice for obvious triggers/solutions I may have missed?

I've suffered from what I think (and docs seem to agree) is bacterial facial and neck/chest folliculitis on and off for the past couple of years.

Initially it was more deep cystic spots on my neck and face but this time round is more like lots of smaller bumps and posts particularly on my forehead. Nothing on my chest.

I'll try and make a GP appt tomorrow for Doxycycline, which seems to have helped in the past, but does anyone have any folliculitis silver bullets?! It's absolutely bloody soul destroying.

I am extremely careful with cosmetics/products etc - I have some skin sensitivities so stick to what I know and avoid fragrance in products (and never wear perfume). I change my pillowcase about every three nights. I've tried Clinisept spray, Epiduo, washing with Dermot, diluted ACV, and I can't even remember what else. I'm bloody exhausted. Any experience appreciated.

Try cutting out dairy - I cut out ask dairy then slowly re introduced cheese/soft cheese, butter and yogurts but rarely have milk now! It made a huge difference to me. I guess you need to try and figure out what triggers it to start with ❤️

I did keto a few years ago to lose weight and my skin cleared up so much. I'd had adult acne for years until then. I think it might be worth trying. I don't know if it's lower blood sugar that helps or the fact the diet is anti-inflammatory but something about it works.

Thanks both, appreciate your replies. Did either of you have bacterial folliculitis, or was it acne?

I eat very little dairy, having cut it out years ago to see if it helped my skin generally (my concern was more acne then rather than folliculitis).

I don't eat sweets or have fizzy drinks but I do bake a lot and of course use sugar. A low-sugar diet would probably not do me any harm.
