Gift ideas for 6 year old girl (bonus if it’s a toy!)

I’ve pretty much finished my Christmas shopping for my two, but when I got their stuff out to organise myself the other day I noticed a lot of DD stuff is more beauty/jewellery/clothes related with a puzzle and a craft set. DS had a couple of toys in his and I feel like she needs a good toy.

What sorts of things do 6 year olds like to play with?! She’s already got an abundance of dress up stuff, that’s pretty much all she does 🤣

Lego, magnet tiles, Barbies, baby dolls, Grimms wooden building blocks, cuddly toys, tuff tray anctivities like playing with water and sand and tipping and pouring type things are the big favourites here.

Sorry for triple post!

My Little Pony stuffties and or MLP playsets were very popular with some little girls I minded. One little girl had small plastic puppies that had playsets like house, school, ice cream shop, but I cannot remember the name.

A doll and a doll bed and clothes for doll, tea sets, Easy Bake Oven (if they still exist).
Ice skates, toboggan.

Build a Bear?

Sylvanian friends? Squishmallows? Top Trumps?

My DD also loved the ‘little live pets’ for ages (think that’s what they’re called) - it’s a toy animal (e.g. Guinea pig) and hutch, with baby Guinea pigs hidden in the top. You groom and ‘feed’ the mum pig and eventually her babies ‘magically’ appear…

Games - Top Trumps, Uno, Operation, Ludo, Junior Scrabble, Jenga, Pop up Pirate, that sort of thing.
Polly Pocket.
Barbie.
Jigsaw puzzles.
Dolls house and dolls, accessories etc for it.
Baby doll, pram, baby carrier, accessories.
Lego.
Outdoor things like tennis racket and tennis balls / skipping rope / football etc.

I love the Lottie Dolls for this age - such lovely dolls (based on actual kids), they're really good quality and they have such a nice range of activities. When my DD was 6 got her the dinosaur one as she was a Dino nerd, got my niece the skateboarding one last Christmas to go with her new skateboard

Lego, science kits, potions kits, animal guess who, magnetiles, remote control car, jenga. All huge hits.

Look at the Happy Puzzle Company.

SoManyDandelions · 27/10/2025 08:37

Gravitax (or other marble run, but Gravitrax is amazing for slightly older DC).
Snap circuits
Jumbalup card game (this was played endlessly in our house when DC were that age)
Guess Who
Lego 3 in 1 sets
A gem mining kit (DS13 still asks for one of these most years 😬)

Does she like small world play? Sylvanian Families etc?

My seven and four year old love the live little pets stuff.

My 7 year old wants a karaoke machine, rainbow high dolls, diy slim sets, a slush puppy, baby mini verse and those surprise mini food brand balls.

Flipitnreverseit · 01/11/2025 14:11

Oh the surprise balls is a good shout.. she loved anything ‘surprise’ 😆 we did the little love pets last year, she had the guinea pig ones and they went down so well but felt a bit wasted after the first few days as she didn’t actually play with it once the baby’s were ‘born’.

some really good ideas here! Thanks all
