Lost prescription - urgently needed

DH went to pick up his prescription from the pharmacy. It contains urgent medications. The request was put in on Monday, but he couldn't collect it before today. Never had a problem before.

The pharmacy didn't have the prescription and, after tracking his name, could not find it anywhere.

This has happened to me a couple of times, the GP said it's been sent, pharmacy haven't got it, but it turns out the GP printed it instead of sending it, so I assumed this had happened.

Called the surgery. Was surprised that they are adamant it was sent. They gave me a tracking number to give to the pharmacy.

Called the pharmacy (DH trying to battle traffic, so I had to do it). They said they'd already tracked under the name and the surgery are lying.

Gave them the tracking number - it came back as nothing could be found under the tracking number.

At a loss as what to do. The surgery is adamant the prescription was sent and have proof, the pharmacy is unable to find any evidence of the script and the tracking is not valid.

He will be abroad so there is NO way that he will be able to get this anywhere else and 111 is not an option, as the surgery is still open until tonight.

What the hell can we do? DH will get sick without the meds.

Phone the surgery and tell them that the tracking number is coming back as invalid, and can they urgently send the prescription again, given the context of your DH going away imminently.

You tell the pharmacist the surgery are saying HE is lying. He needs to ring them in front of you and get them to send it again. Do not leave the shop until he's spoken to them.

Yes surely the above posts from people are obvious

But your post just stops and reads as if you haven't done it

GP can issue another (urgent) prescription rather than squabbling about whose fault it is.

Update DH has arrived at the surgery and found out the issue.

His prescription was due on Monday, so it was post-dated as they don't allow you to order in advance.

He ordered a week early due to going away and not being around on Monday (when his meds run out).

They are trying to see what they can do. I do understand, but at the same time, if people are going away/Christmas etc, people do need to order in advance if it's due when they are not physically able to collect.

I think if he'd put in the prescription yesterday it would have been fine.

I'm not sure why the receptionist didn't tell me that it was post-dated.

I apologise for the drama, I do not cope with things going unexpectedly wrong and panic.

I did tell him to get the surgery to phone the pharmacy, but it appears the problem wasn't that at all. I wish she'd said it was post-dated as I wouldn't have rung the pharmacy.
