Hallux Rigidus- severe pain big toe- looking for recommendations for an in-she support that works

Should read "in-shoe support" 🙈 I'm increasingly suffering with severe pain in big left toe and foot pad when I wear anything other than soft pumps, which is becoming a real issue. I broke my ankle 3 years ago and was warned due to the complexity of the fracture I may develop arthritis and foot issues going forward, and the development of hallux rigidus really is agony. Has anyone found something to wear that actually helps relieve this? TIA

Go to your Doctor. Ask them to refer you to the local hospital podiatry clinic.
The clinic will examine your foot, take a mould & make an insert(s) tailored to you.

This I know because it was done for me.

I wear Birkenstock trainers for the arch support and the wide toe-box, I can really feel it in my toe if I wear other shoes for the day.

The podiatrist that diagnosed mine also recommended trainers that have a ‘rocking’ sole, eg Hokas like these, as it avoids the toe having to flex so much when initiating movement.

I was able to self-refer to my local NHS podiatry service via an online form.

Yep I have it in both feet, it’s a progression from my RA
get a referral for a podiatrist
I now have steroid injections in my toe joint every 6mths for pain control and live in my Hoka wide fit trainers (I wear Clifton 9s)
you need a rigid sole with a good heel /toe offset so that the shoe does the work for you, & a good shoe width to give your toes space
he said that a carbon plate sole would be even better but they are £££
