Pain after dental extraction

How long did it last for you?
I had UR1 extracted two days ago and the referred pain is driving me up the wall. I'm taking regular paracetamol and ibuprofen and have added in some codeine for good measure.
I don't think it helps to have been given a partial denture, and told to keep it in as long as possible. Surely poking it up into the socket will stop the healing process?
Argh.

Ring the dentist and ask if it could be dry socket. I've had quite few extractions, including an impacted wisdom tooth, and they weren't that painful.

I shall do that, thank you for replying.

Yeah defo ring the dentist.
Dry socket is incredibly painful. You get really strong meds in America for it aftwr extractions if you’re in pain. They don’t seem to bother over here but it’s agony.

I've had dry socket in the past and it was dreadful.
This doesn't seem as bad, but I do feel that pushing a partial denture into place can't be helping the wound to heal. Yet I was told I had to try to keep the denture in, from the word go, and for as long as I could.

I had UL1 removed last year ahead of an implant and after a day it was a little tender but no pain. I think that you have to keep the denture in to reduce swelling and to make sure that the denture continues to fit. I’d call the dentist in the morning if you can.
