Nany not replied to job offer - I need to re advertise don’t I?

We met the perfect Nanny, I couldn’t imagine it being anyone else but her. We were unsure about start date as not sure if having to take on annual leave to maternity leave or not and still no answer. So there was 2 options for starting.

There was a while between their last visit and us messaging saying we would love them to be our Nanny. They’ve read it and not replied 2 days later. They’ve gone with someone else haven’t they who can start a month earlier.

Do I message again saying we could do one day a week for a month before they start whilst still on leave? Or just leave it if they haven’t replied. Do I repost my advert as it’s getting super close now or if they’ve undecided and they see we’ve re advertise they might be on the fence?

Bollocks. She made me feel really at ease and comfortable with the process.

One more message to her to clearly state you'd love to employ her but appreciate she may have changed her mind, that you will re advertise on XX, wish her well and see what happens

As a nanny. Well ex one now but was one for 20yrs - most jobs don’t start next week unless family been let down

I would interview for jobs 2/3mth ahead of start time

take a good 2/4w to interview. See others. 2nd interview. Meet kids. Check ref etc

so a job waiting to start 6w isn’t an issue

you not contacting her is

and esp then leaving it 5/10 days

call her. Leave a message if need be - not text

we loved meeting you. Would like to offer you the job. Please call me back to discuss signing contract

if I haven’t heard from you by tomorrow evening I assume you have accepted another offer and we wish you well.

don’t feel calling would go down well if it’s a no

if you call and she says no she will likely be nice and professional but just say no, as is the standard with people turning down jobs, it’s weird to be texting job offers. Call her and have a conversation

I was a childminder so not a nanny but the amount of families I would meet and interview ( which works both ways to see if a fit) and I never heard back from was staggering and just rude. I basically wrote families off if not heard from with in 48 hours . 1 lady really stood out she came round about my baby space, seemed nice I did advise her I had quite a few people interested and in fact the a couple an hour later signed up during the meeting. Original lady contacted me 3 weeks later to inform me congratulations you have made it to my final 3 applicants I will come round again with hubby to re interview you 😆, and was very cheesed of to be advised I had filled the space and declined to be re interviewed

Just call her tomorrow. She may have something else, she may not.

Apologise that it took a bit of time to get back to her, explain that baby was ill. Just get certainty from her either way and stop beating yourself up when you don’t actually know the outcome!

Yeah it’s hard and families who have not had a nanny before can be a bit all at sea with it. (This isn’t easy for the nanny either as a career nanny will expect parents to generally know how things work and not have to handhold the process) But there’s really no harm in contacting her. Properly! Maybe you’re her preferred option but she thought she had to hedge her bets with another job offer. You don’t know until you communicate.

Similar tho now I’m a maternity nurse

either I message it they do off the childcare site. We chat. Talk about routine. Feeding - what they want /expect and say they want me

but

don’t pay the deposit and I always say till contact is signed and deposit is paid I am not booked and will be talking to other families

this lady last month kept saying she wanted me. But wouldn’t commit

so I carried on. She then said she wanted to proceed and would call me after the weekend - I carried on looking

tue am spoke to new couple - while in interview they paid me the deposit to book me 😇

lady rang tue pm and said spoke to dh and yes wanted to book me and could I start next week. I was no. I’m booked

her reply. Oh but we really wanted you

well not enough to pay my deposit to secure me

I think if it took you 10 days to respond to her with an offer it’s quite rich to think she is sitting around with nothing better to do but jump as soon as she read your email. It’s been 2 days. Let her mull over the decision just like you did.

Exactly.
If you'd called her in the first place instead of messaging, you wouldn't be in the mess.
Messaging was not appropriate or helpful here.
