Royal Mail and photo of DD

I understand proof of delivery requires postman taking a photo of either parcel being received or in safe space. However, today postman has taken a photo of parcel being handed to DD (it’s Dd with corner of the package).

just posting to check if I’m being odd about feelings slightly annoyed about this.

Royal Mail are militant with their delivery photos, they don’t care.

I remember once I was unpacking after a house move and in the background of the delivery photos were things like underwear in the background, Royal Mail didn’t care about the invasion of privacy. They did offer to take down the photo on their website but made it clear that delivery photos are mandatory and their driver did the right thing etc

YABU, they need evidence due to the amount of ftaud

In my situation where I complained to Royal Mail the driver captured more of the background necessary, ie instead of the parcel in an open doorway, he was photographing the interior of the house and had zoomed out unnecessarily.

They can take delivery photos, without having to document the rest of the house.

YANBU to be irked. A package was delivered the other month (for DH) and I took it in. The courier took a 'delivery photo' and it was a full fucking length photo of me and I looked like a sack of shit. Scruffy ripped clothes (as I was doing the housework,) messy hair, no make up, looked 15 years older, looked fatter than I am. AWFUL.

It was DH's package, so he got the information, and the photo. For some reason, he looked at the 'proof of delivery' and clicked on the photograph (of me) and thought it was hilarious, as I looked like a scarecrow who had just got an electric shock. He saved the fucking photo as it was sooooo funny. Hmm I said 'fucking delete it!' He said 'but it's funny!' I was like Hmm

A few days later, he went to the loo and left his laptop open, and I went into his photos and deleted the photograph. I don't think he re-downloaded it, as I think he forgot about it. The photos auto delete after a few weeks I think, as the delivery information is deleted.

tl;dr, I think it is shitty to take intrusive photos via a delivery!

If this is something that registers as an annoyance for you, you must have a pretty easy life.

They really are damned if they do and dammed if they don’t.
these photos are for the purpose to prove drivery- they don’t go on social media or their website!

They normally try not to get anyone's face in the photo - just a pic of the parcel in their hands.

She's unlikely to become this year's face of the Royal Mail.
