Can I ask you a few questions please? The menopause board doesn’t usually get many replies!

I’ve been on 200mg Utrogestan for 3 1/2 months taken 2 weeks on/2 weeks off alongside 50mg estrogen patch.

The two weeks on Utrogestan my anxiety and mood hasn’t been good, getting worse each month. I finished my 2 weeks on it yesterday and my anxiety has skyrocketed tonight.

Im back to see the doctor next week for review.

I know a lot of people don’t get on with progesterone so what do you take?

I have awful health anxiety so I don’t want to hear any horror stories, more so advice please 🙏

Hi OP. I switched to Mirena.

While I was taking Utro, I considered suicide. A lot. It would take about 5 days to lift each month then within the week almost I'd be back on it.

Awful awful stuff. The sleep was so deep and drug like and no dreams and I never felt refreshed.

Mirena has been absolutely brilliant. I have it with oestrogen patches and testosterone.

I take it continuously.

also duloxetine is good for anxiety

I took it two weeks on then off then I took it continuously. It never regulated my cycle and never stopped periods. I had horrible mood swings. I take Slynd now, huge difference and no periods. I feel my mood is much better regulated.

I was previously put on Slynd which I didn’t feel as anxious on but the next time I saw a doctor, they weren’t happy with that and moved me onto Utrogestan.

Slynd is now approved for use as the progesterone part of HRT.

My dsis had crushing depression with ustrogan and finally got the mirena coil fitted after trying other options. Has 100pc sorted her out. It has to be worth a try surely?
