EBay fees

I have a Superking bed and mattress to sell . I can’t figure out what the fee will be to list it and what the selling fee would be. In the past I’ve been charged for listing something that didn’t sell. Can anyone explain it to me please?

What would be a fair price? The bed is in pristine condition as so is the mattress. It’s about four years old and was quite expensive when new.

It's free for private sellers to list now, isn't it - apart from a few categories like cars.

They add a small percentage as a buyer fee on instead, so the potential buyers see the total including that fee - hence some of the random-looking prices that you see now (that leave you wondering why somebody has decided to offer their item for, say, £103.78!).

Not sure as to the price. It will often automatically suggest a price based on previous sales of what it identifies as similar items, but check that they are indeed like for like. You can of course check manually what the competition is - including brand new ones from businesses (probably with free UK-wide postage). It may well go in your favour being a less common size.

You can start higher and then reduce it later if no interest, if you like - or you can set eBay up to automatically send people who've viewed it a personal offer whereby it's cheaper if they hurry up and buy within a few days.

i suppose it also depends whether you live somewhere near where several potential buyers live, as I presume it will be a collection in person scenario?!

I'd also decline the offer to have AI write the description for you, as it stands out a mile and just makes it look like you don't care and/or have something to hide. Buyers will value an actual human writing that there is a tiny scuff at the back of one of the legs, but you can't see it when it's set up - rather than a bot waffling on about how a bed can transform your life!

Hope you get a good buyer at a good price!
