Or any other way?

Thanks in advance

Yes. Not to the point where I'll touch a spider/crane fly/any other insect, but I don't scream and run away having palpitations or crying.
GP suggest it 25 years ago and it still seems to be working. I can stay in the same room as spider or crane fly now.
It was crane flies that particularly terrified me.

Wow that's brilliant. I'm currently on a course of hypnotherapy for arachnophobia & I really hope it works. I also have to listen to a recording several times a week & read the PowerPoint he sent me

Sort of. Hypnobirthing helped with my fear of giving birth. Not a phobia, because it’s rational!

If it’s arachnophobia, I assume the PowerPoints include pictures etc. So exposure therapy, which is pretty standard and works if you do it correctly. Done poorly it can make it worse.

Not with hypnotherapy, but I did with exposure.

My issue was fish. It was so great that I lost a toddler to an aquarium and couldn't get her back. I couldn't touch books/magazines I knew to contain images of fish...

After losing the toddler to a fish tank for 30 minutes, I bought myself an annual membership to an aquarium and forced myself in. I'm sure I was their most hated customer as the first month I was regularly having hysterical screaming and hyperventilating panic attacks. I'd puke and self harm as waiting for the bus to get there...

Anyway. I forced myself to go for at least 30 minutes at least once a week. By the time my year membership was up, I was able to legitimately visit there with the kids and no freak outs. It took about 4/5 months to feel I could cope bringing a child too. Now I can cope with them alive and in a tank. Dead or out of water is too much and I will have panic attacks, but not the sort that scare the wider public. This is true whether a real fish, or an unexpected photo.

Best of luck!

Yes, I got rid of a needle phobia with it. I no longer faint when I have to have a blood test! I don't even get anxious about it, it's not my favourite thing to do, but not a source of panic anymore. It was so helpful.

No, the PowerPoint just explains the science behind phobias & how we can change it. I read it every other day as I thought there's no harm in reinforcing it & I listen to the recording on the days in between. There are no pictures (I have no problem with spiders on a page or on tv) & so far it's all been quite generic. I have 2 more sessions & hoping for the best. He has v good reviews

Yes flying. I will say I wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t get on a aeroplane but I did use to panic during landing/take off and the hypnotherapy helped me feel calmer .
i also saw a hypnotherapist for quitting smoking and successfully stopped.
And saw another for anxiety which also significantly reduced.

Yes, I did the friendly spider program and it cured me in an afternoon. Amazing.

I did that at Bristol Zoo but unfortunately it didn't help

Just be aware that there is some thought given that people are born predisposed to having a phobia which manifests according to life experience.

For example, two little girls have a pigeon flap in their faces resulting in the child who is predisposed to having a phobia becoming absolutely terrified of birds, Ornithophobia.

The other girl is able to overcome her fright because she is not genetically disposed to having a phobia.

Therefore, if the girl with the bird phobia receives successful treatment as an adult and is cured of her Ornithophobia, she might find that the phobia is transferred to something else such as fear of flying.

It is advisable to seek help in dealing with your reaction to your phobia such as being able to stay calm whilst you move away from what is frightening you.

I need this as I have a bad needle phobia

Hypnotherapy really helped me with an eye phobia, when I was diagnosed with a condition requiring contact lenses.

It didn't completely cure me but it really helped. It's definitely worth a try.

Do it! Otherwise you'll be avoiding medical stuff for years, or going through with it but working yourself up before and during. I'm so pleased I no longer get the fear.
