That's a shock and seems like it was sudden.

AdoraBell · 11/10/2025 22:12

Very sad, she was a super actress.

ThatBlackCat · 11/10/2025 22:32

This is so sad! Father of The Bride was just played on tv again last night in Australia! Only 12 hours ago! That is so ironic!

Awww, was it?! Great film. Smile

It's so sad, mainly as DK seemed like the kind of actress who would live until she was 100 iygwim, so even though she was 79, that seems too early. She was an icon, absolutely brilliant at playing the neurotic New Yorker. She had a tendency to over act a little and I loved her for it. I'm already looking forward to nearer Xmas when I get to watch The Family Stone for the 100000th time.

Strangerthanfictions · 11/10/2025 22:41

I don't know why this just feels such a shock. I know she wasn't a young woman but it really feels like a shock

PullTheBricksDown · 11/10/2025 22:46

Ah what a shame. I now want to watch lots of films mentioned here again.

I LOVE The Family Stone. Such a good film! And there are so many amazing actors and actresses in it. Smile

IT's an absolute Christmas classic in our house. I cry my eyes out every time.

She was one of a kind and very talented. I don’t know if I can watch The Family Stone and Marvin’s Room after this. I also give her props for publicly supporting Woody Allen a few years ago.

Yeah, same here. I didn't even discover it til about 5-6 years ago, it was on Channel 5 I think. It's sooooo good. Smile

Such sad news. She seemed so much younger than her age. I always loved her in Parenthood

Yes she did look younger. As many posters have said, I am shocked she was almost 80. In my head she was in her early 60s!

Diane keaton wasn't in parenthood.

You're thinking of Diane west

Bigearringsbigsmile · 12/10/2025 13:43

I remember her for her roles in Manhattan and Annie Hall. Dressed in fabulous clothes and playing incredibly intelligent, quirky women.
Absolutely brilliant.

theparticley · 12/10/2025 14:12

Very sad news. Also one who loved Baby Boom and The Family Stone. Was going to introduce my tween daughter to Baby Boom this weekend. She was an awesome female role model in that movie!

Who is being fabulous in the latest season of Only Murders in the Building. I love her too, but I’m genuinely mourning Diane Keaton.

I never said she was. That was Dianne Wiest (I think people may be confusing Parenthood with Father of the Bride because of Steve Martin..?)

Oh my god, you are right! I meant Father of The Bride! 🫣

indoorplantqueen · 12/10/2025 14:56

I loved DK as an actress. Father of the bride is mine and teen DD’s go to feel good film

BadgerMushroomToast · 12/10/2025 15:00

My favourite film of hers is Because I Said So - I never seen anyone mention it. I think I will watch it today.

TheFoodLife · 12/10/2025 15:01

Lovely intelligent woman. RIP 🌟💙🌟

I watched Manhattan this morning I love all the old Woody Allen films she was in but, god it is creepy isn’t it with the 17 year old girlfriend? I need to Google to see how old the actress was at the time.

im now watching First Wives Club which is great fun I have them all frozen at that age. Goldie certainly looks it still with all her surgeries 😀
