Good morning from dd1's uni accommodation bed where I'm drinking the cuppa she made me, and eating the remains of last night's kebab for breakfast 😋

We're getting showered and sorted soon ish to head into London for a wander and lunch, before joining tonight's Ethel Cain queue in Hammersmith.

The gig's a birthday one so it's just me and dd - dd2 is home with their dad for the weekend. They're planning to head out somewhere to eat, probably this evening - she'll want to get her homework done.

We'll probably pick up something snacky on our way home for the night - last night was fries from McDonald's 😋 - to eat with a brew, before bed ready to head out again tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🎶

Afternoon all. I'm just enjoying a peaceful moment outside in the sun while DH and DS build some Lego. We're on holiday in Northumberland - 2nd last day 😭 It's been magical as always - saw a pod of dolphins yesterday. Very restful, lots of walking, pub lunches and hot tub time. It's our 3rd time coming here and we're set to book for next October too! Just waiting on our friends to pick us up to head to a brewery for a boozy lunch. Dinner will be cheese and biscuits, then a bit more hot tub probably. Have a great day, everyone.

@lucysmam, I admire your stamina, you are obviously a lot younger than me 😁
Have a lovely weekend with dd1

lucysmam · 11/10/2025 14:54

@Taytocrisps She's having a ball & uni seems to be going well, thanks for asking! She did say yesterday it's better now the boring induction stuff's out of the way. This will be her...fifth, maybe sixth actually, concert since moving. She's been buying cheap resale/production hold tickets.

@JacknDiane I'm 43. Feeling it today - probably over-done it with 3 back to back gigs and work this week 🤔

We are in the throes of uni open days, just on our way back from Leeds Beckett, second Saturday in Leeds, University of Leeds last weekend. LBU seems to be winning the Leeds competition currently.
Should be home about 4, so a bit of a chill, tea and a relaxing evening.

Chelsea26 · 11/10/2025 16:06

Afternoon all! Lovely to hear about your days as always!

I got up just before 9 with DP, he took DSS to Thai boxing and I tidied round the kitchen and drank coffee.

DS1 and DS2 appeared and made themselves breakfast and I had an and peanut butter on sourdough which I haven’t had for AGES and it was delicious!!

I then dropped DS1 at a golf tournament (which he won!) And then popped round to my brother’s to drop off my niece’s birthday present. I had a quick game of chess with my nephew who’s 9 - I was soundly beaten!!

My boys have just been picked up by their dad, DP and I are chilling on the sofa. DSD is going to meet up with friends this evening so just us and DSS for dinner which is Spatchcock chicken in BBQ sauce and curly fries.

Probably a couple of 0% gins this evening as doing sober (ish) October before one of us goes to pick up DSD.

Been the most lovely day here -east Scotland. I have tided the garden and walked the dog. Just folded and put away today’s washing. Will start cooking soon, it’s Thai red curry for dinner followed by apple strudel and ice cream. Just the two of us tonight. A red wine or two and then a night of TV and relaxing ahead. Bliss

FamingolosForDays · 11/10/2025 17:50

Despite being absolutely exhausted I was awake at 06:15am and couldn't go back to sleep. But I had got into bed at 9pm and fallen asleep instantly so can't complain too much.
Really brutal week at my new job and so so drained. My uncles dog passed away earlier in the week so feeling very sad as she's been in my life a very long time.

DC are here this weekend so my aunt, DM and DS came for lunch. Id made two different types of soup by 10am this morning and tidied the house and carried on with Halloween decorations.

Just sitting watching a film with DD- tried to have a nap but my brain is too busy so im having a glass of red wine instead 😆

Bacon baguettes for late dinner, we're off to watch my colleagues at local half marathon tomorrow morning.

@lucysmam what is your DDs secret? Where do these production resale tickets come from? 🤣

veryworried1988 · 11/10/2025 19:41

Had a lie in and had poached eggs on toast for brunch.

Changed the beds, dusted and tidied. DH vacuumed through.

Then he and DD went to the cinema and I started the garden. Mowed the front lawn, hoed and tidied then did the back garden too.

Got cleaned up and went to our local hospice's charity shop and bought a dining room table and 4 chairs. Really pleased. No way could we afford what we bought first hand, it's really good quality!

Also, bought a wheelchair in preparation for DM who is on the list for a knee replacement.

Called at M and S for some treaty bits.

Got home, had shower, watching strictly with DD now, whilst DH cooks.

Throughout all of this, DS has been in his room playing FIFA all day, only emerging for food and drink. This is normal, he's autistic.

frozendaisy · 11/10/2025 19:42

Morning!
gad a feeling it was pointless posting what we were doing today because plans were changing every 10 minutes!

I have ended the day with a glass of red wine
6music funk and soul
ice cream maker churning dark chocolate vanilla ice cream

could be a lot worse

Judellie · 11/10/2025 20:22

Can never lie in these days so got up showered, washed and dried hair and cleaned shower. Had a banana and some toast, then took DD to one of her PT jobs as she had a 6 hour shift.
Then set off to the nearby Morrisons to meet my friend for breakfast/brunch. DD sent me a text and I read it to find that she had been asked to work all day now (til 6.30) because the girl who was coming to take over in the afternoon had rung in to say that her mother had had a stroke. So not good for them.
After my breakfast and catch up with my friend, I bought a few bits at Morrisons then drove home. There were traffic jams EVERYWHERE for some reason.
As it was a gorgeous day, I cut the grass and did a bit of tidying and went for a walk at 4, to get my steps in.
DS went to go on the metro and the metro had loads of delays.
Picked up DD from her shift and got back to eat the roast dinenr that DH had done, which was very nice.
Just mumsnetting now; my sister was due to land at the airport nearby at 20.45 but her flight has been delayed 2 hours. I may see her briefly as her car is here at ours so she'll have to come and collect it, but not really up for visitors at 11pm!
Away to read what everyone else has been doing now!

Mysterian · 11/10/2025 20:32

I was planning on visiting London for a specific shop. Then walk to Borough Market for a snack, tube to the O2 then water bus thing to Embankment. Tube up to Camden Market for buying clothes and eating. Back to Paddington via a park if time.
Instead the Long Covid acted up after a busy day on Thursday so I'm sitting quietly the whole day on the computer doing fuck all.

I'm sad/annoyed/fed up/resigned to long term illness.

Mysterian · 11/10/2025 21:18

And then I chose to kill everybody's happy vibe!

SilkiePenguin · 11/10/2025 21:28

Had quite a productive day if not the most exciting. Nice weather here today. Hoovered downstairs and cleaned floors in kitchen and downstairs bathroom and cleaned downstairs bathroom. Changed the flooring of the silkies house. Did a few hours gardening and planted all the bulbs we had left (iris, tulips, hyacinth, daffodils). Just had a bath with lily of the valley bath foam.

For lunch we had smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast. Dinner just had brie and pear and apple juice from the farm shop and will have sticky toffee pudding and custard. DD at uni and DS spent most of the day in the summerhouse.

fitflopqueen · 11/10/2025 22:20

Late night Friday so tea & toast in bed with our dog whilst DH went for park run this morning, then stripped bedding and went for a walk.
Poached eggs with salad for me at lunch then we went to view a renovation project in next village on behalf of our kids, took photos and video to send to them but perhaps not the best as starter.
Home to hoover, make beds, hang washing out, then bit of gardening as sun came out. Shorter walk, bit of web surfing
Spag Bol and plum crumble (all made yesterday) for dinner.
watched SCD, now on Departure - season 3

lucysmam · 12/10/2025 00:36

@FamingolosForDays she uses Ticketmaster like social media so finds them on there. She's on there at least once a day! Often she knows other people going too so they let her know if they've seen tickets, too.

@Mysterian I'm in the same boat as you health-wise. We just have to adjust our minds as to what is fun/nice to do. Think small and enjoy the things we can do.

I'm gradually learning how to manage my expectations, and planning ahead is a huge part of that. Doing what I can when I can so that I don't get caught out at the last minute, and grabbing every opportunity to do nice things when I have a good day.

I couldn't even consider doing even half what you had planned even on a good day! But by adjusting my expectations and planning to do less, maybe I would find that I could do more - if you know what I mean.

Don't get frustrated at what you can't do - just enjoy the things you CAN do. (It doesn't always work for me but I'm trying!)
