Bastard cat brought it in. I was in bed and heard DH yelling, went down to help and he'd manage to locate it. We pulled the sofa out and he managed to get a pint glass over it but then lifted the glass slightly to slide aome card under and it ran off. Weve pulled the whole lounge apart looking fot it before we realised the gap under the lounge door is probably big enough that its squeezed under. So now its lost somewhere in my house. WTH do we do? Im freaking out a bit

If you are up for it mouse trap with peanut butter or chocolate. Had loads on the loft (not sure how) and at least two downstairs last Christmas. Discovered when a couple of presents were nibbled and even though slightly pissed was sure i saw something move. Anyway. Traps. Sorry o.p xx

Isn't it annoying when the cats bring them in and leave us to deal with them, from experience I've let my cats seek them as they can sniff em out, after that either they take em back out or the husband deals with it 🤣 We've also got mouse traps in places and yes I've had to get rid of some dead ones 🤢 best you buy some traps tmro

Sympathy OP.

You need humane mousetraps. Bait them with half a Reese's peanut butter cup or a caramel filled chocolate (make sure it's cut in half so your prey can smell the filling).

Otherwise, you can improvise by baiting a long cardboard tube covered at one end in a similar way and turning the lights off and waiting quietly til you hear mousey in the tube.

Failing that, one of you waiting quietly with a dustpan and soft brush, with partner waiting to slip a cardboard box or similar underneath to temporarily decant the mouse (ideally one with a lid) once you've shepherded it into the dustpan (watch it - mice are ridiculously good at jumping).

Yes, this has happened in my house. More than once.

Thanks. Have ordered a couple of humane traps on amazon. Should be here tomorrow. Now I just need to hope it doesn't jump on me when I'm in bed tonight.

It’s only a tiny mouse, you don’t need to freak out!

As PP said, if you have a cat who brings them in regularly, then it’s worth getting a humane mouse trap. You can buy them on Amazon. In the meantime, if you see it, just drop a tea towel over it and carry it outside. I usually find that easier than trying to trap it in something.
