Anyone from Manchester? Where to stay after a gig in Wythenshawe Park?

Got tickets for the cure next summer. We’re about 3 hours drive from Manchester and I don’t know the area at all.

looking to book a hotel for afterwards but I have no idea what the transport links will be like that time of night so wondering if anyone has any recommendations for somewhere that will be easy to get to afterwards?

thanks in advance

To be fair @lucysmam you can get Sacha's for just under £100 for the night which is prob about the cheapest room in Manchester

People would need to splash out and pay a bit more for a room with a window. I stayed in one without many many years ago and it was very claustrophobic and a bit grubby

@openthewindoweveryday they've got rooms at Britannia Airport for £250 upwards - bargain!

OP that’s NOT a suggestion

sashh · 05/10/2025 09:45

What ever you do, do not stay at Sacha's.

Parking can be expensive i the city centre, I think I'd start with looking for somewhere with parking.

Malbecfan · 05/10/2025 10:33

I'd probably stay at the Airport and use the tram. Wythenshawe Park is on the line between Manchester Airport and the city centre, but I would hazard a guess that more people will be heading into the city, so trams going the other way should be less busy.

To be fair to them, the public transport people there are pretty good at putting on extra trams when events are on. I go to the Etihad quite often and whilst the queues for the tram are long, they move quickly.

Ice booked at the airport. It says it's half a mile away. I hope it's ok. Does anyone know?

Malbecfan · 05/10/2025 19:49

It's a fair bit further than half a mile, but you should be absolutely fine there.

The airport is about 3.5 miles away

what hotel you booked at? It’s not the Britannia airport hotel is it?

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2025 21:33

It's this one. Is it no good?

Britannia aren’t known to be great hotels and very mixed reviews on trustpilot. I never understood how hotels can get so many 5 stars and 1 stair reviews at the same time…

you driving there? Parking seems hit and miss. It is very close to the park

if you stay you might want to bring a sleeping bag with you but you'll be in your room whilst we all trying to get home

We're not driving. I thought it would be good to be walkable. It's just me and teen ds.

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/10/2025 21:51

Meryl - that is very walkable. Although it's called Britannia Airport hotel it's very near Wythenshawe Park. It also has free parking

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2025 21:53

Hopefully we'll be able to stick it for one night even if it is poor.

OnTheBoardwalk · 05/10/2025 21:56

It’s absolutely walkable and hassle free for you getting back after the gig

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/10/2025 21:57

Yes it's only a mile away.

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2025 22:02

Thanks for the reassurance. DS is not great in big cities so I thought a walk to the hotel would be better than waiting in big crowds for Ubers or trams. I hope the sheets are clean!

chipshopElvis · 05/10/2025 22:03

If you are driving the Prem inn in Sale is pretty near. Do not stay in the Britania Airport hotel which is the nearest hotel!

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2025 22:07

Why?

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2025 22:08

Or where else should we go if we're not driving bearing in mind thousands of people will be going to the gig?

chipshopElvis · 05/10/2025 22:11

Britania Airport hotel is not a nice hotel but it is very close to the park. Its not dangerous or anything just a bit grim.

This it’s not dangerous just a bit grim and you can’t get any nearer to the park

chipshopElvis · 05/10/2025 22:14

I would walk to Northern moor tram stop or jump on a bus to Sale and get the tram from there. There are two tram stops near Wythenshawe park, I think dispersal won't be that bad. It's been fine for the other gigs.

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2025 22:14

Thanks for your reply. I'll not expect much and hope for the best.

lucysmam · 06/10/2025 20:14

@MerylSqueak the one in the centre that I mentioned is fine - basic & dated, but, like I said, we only paid about £23pp for the night, so fine for what we paid. We were in late, up early, showered, out the door to Maccy's round the corner for breakfast & an early train home. If you're just after a bed for the night, then I'd imagine it'll be fine.

Flora73 · 06/10/2025 20:28

My son and his girlfriend stayed in the Britannia in August for Sam Fender. They said it was fine, clean, there was a bar and a restaurant. And it was a short walk back from the concert. And free parking too.

Raahh · 06/10/2025 20:44

There's a Premier Inn in Heald Green, near the station. Not far from the trams to the park, if anyone travels in by train. It's very close to the airport, and on that railway line.

Very short walk to the tram stops and buses.
