Terrified of leaving job!

Has anyone been through similar?

Been offered a new job. More money, better opportunity for progression.

However, I’ve been at my old job for so long I’ve got severe imposter syndrome. I’m also scared to leave my friends, my team who I’ve been with such a long time. I could do the job with my eyes shut. Management are very flexible (just greedy) and I don’t hate the job, I’m just stuck and bored.

If I don’t go now I never will but I’m considering retracting my notice because I don’t want to leave all I’ve ever known work wise!

You’ve got this OP. Change is always scary but your friends from your old job will still be your friends and you will learn how to do the new job with your eyes closed too. You don’t want to bored forever, you can do this!

What motivated you to apply? What are your hopes? Are you ready to get stuck in to a new challenge? The new job won't be perfect, but neither is the current job (if it is, stay...)

It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to be but didn’t think I would end up. It’s daunting as it’s a leadership type role but I’ve always wanted to work for this company. It’s also more money, we haven’t had a pay rise in 5 years other than inflation plus overtime has been stopped.

In current job we are overworked and underpaid but have always had an in it together mentality and are great friends. I started this job as a teenager, had children, got married etc etc and am still doing the same thing!

I don’t want to do one job my whole life without trying something else but at the same time people keep saying better the devil you know…

That's amazing, you have done a great job, been a loyal team member, made good bonds, and also recognized your worth and need for growth. Congratulations on the move and say goodbye fondly.
