Favourite frozen foods? Looking for ideas

I have a freezer for the first time in two years. I moved into my new home and there wasn't space so I've just been using the fridge (no freezer compartment either) BUT I've finally found a home for one. I feel like it's going to open up a whole new world! What can I stock it with?

So far I have in there:
LEON Waffle fries
Indian paratha
Spicy bean burgers
A block of butter

What are your favourite frozen foods? Bonus points for pescatarian and low UPF but happy for anyone to share anything for inspiration.
I'm definitely going to buy an icecube tray and I'd like to find some non UPF ice-cream.

Morrisons cheesy hash brown bites.

murasaki · 01/10/2025 12:12

Morrisons used to do frozen tuna steaks you could cook from frozen. They seem to have disappeared but I'm hunting for new ones. Otherwise loads of places do frozen lemon sole fillets etc.

murasaki · 01/10/2025 12:15

We make soup and freeze that in portions in tie handle bags, just got a chicken one on the go at the moment , but have pea and ham and mushroom and tarragon in the freezer at the moment.

Also bolognaise, chili, lasagna, fish pie etc.

Welcome to batch cooking! You can make it much more upf free than ready meals, and do veggie versions.

oven chips are always handy to have around.

Frozen chopped veg, like onions and sofritto. Speeds up cooking so much when you’re in a rush.

Wow I didn't know that cheesy hash browns existed. I feel like the world of frozen food has moved on a lot in the time I've been without a freezer.

Definitely going to do this. Looking forward to freezing leftovers and being able to have a home cooked dinner when I'm back from work late.

Def sofritto as a pp suggests, great base for so many things.

FrenchandSaunders · 01/10/2025 12:30

not UPF obv but crosta mollica frozen pizzas are very good.

They are amazing!

Freeze your leftover soups/sauces/stocks in a silicone muffin tray then pop the rounds into a labelled ziplock. Top up the ziplock every time you make a batch. I am lazy but this works for me. I love defrosting just the amount I need, or microwaving in 3 minutes instead of all day.

Timeforabiscuit · 01/10/2025 12:34

It's upf, but I always stock up on itsu soup dumplings and gyozas as they are quick to microwave and delicious 😋

evtheria · 01/10/2025 12:37

Homemade beef stew/ragu/bourguignon
Homemade cookie balls ready to bake (you can buy premade cookie dough but I’ve yet to try a good one)

Frozen berries (way cheaper, good for porridge and yoghurt or crumble)
Frozen ginger - there’s a brand that does a big bag of cubes of ginger puree, I buy it from Tesco

Gyozas
onigiri
almond croissants

murasaki · 01/10/2025 12:38

Always handy to keep a loaf of bread in there for emergencies.

murasaki · 01/10/2025 12:39

Frozen peas, other frozen mixed veg.

Belladog1 · 01/10/2025 12:44

I have just started batch cooking, and I love knowing I have a chicken curry, bolognaise, chilli and a beef casserole in the freezer. So handy when you don't have much time and better for you then ready meals.

I also have sliced garlic bread in mine, so I can have a couple of slices with a salad. Tesco do 10 slices very reasonably. I have frozen haddock and chips and peas too, plus a few individual pies and chicken breasts / mince. I often have a couple of ready meals (love Tesco chicken chow mein) as a back up.

I only have a small freezer and live alone, so I try and eat everything up before replenishing it.

minipie · 01/10/2025 12:46

Here’s what’s in mine

Batch cooking - sauces, stews, soups, curries, stock
Meat, fish, prawns
Stuffed pasta - great emergency meal
Crosta & mollica pizza
Butter
Paratha
Sliced bread
Milk (lasts longer as I only shop once a week)
Chopped onions
Soffrito
Frozen berries and mango
Peas, sweetcorn, edamame, spinach
Itsu bao buns
Potato rostis
Bag of chicken bones to make stock
Frozen herbs, ginger, garlic, chilli, lemongrass
Parmesan rinds
Lasagne (M&S does a non upf one)

@evtheria what is the frozen ginger puree brand please?

evtheria · 01/10/2025 12:49

@minipie’Surya crushed ginger’

Paratha, gyoza, spinach, peas, and All The Ice Cream

murasaki · 01/10/2025 12:51

Oh yes, I forgot ice cream!

DancingFerret · 01/10/2025 12:54

Most of the above - and also Waitrose's frozen mashed potato.

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 01/10/2025 12:54

Morrisons do a frozen bean mix that I love for quick bean chilli.
I always have chips and a beige product, fish fingers/nuggets etc.
Garlic bead to have with soup.
Spinach
A pizza.
The rest is mainly home made casseroles/curries/soup etc.
I have a huge freezer and live on my own so keep it stocked for when I'm unwell or have overspent on gig tickets!

bellalou1234 · 01/10/2025 13:52

Are you me op I’ve recently got a freezer too
game changer. Loads of leftovers. Yellow stick ready meals for work, frozen omelettes and ice lollies. And potatoes waffles there so versatile

murasaki · 01/10/2025 13:57

Yes, raid the yellow sticker area for all you can get! Portion things up and label before freezing.

P00hsticks · 01/10/2025 13:57

At Christmas, I take advantage of the veggie loss leaders at the supermarket to get carrots, swede and parsnips which I slice and dice and freeze in bags to use for slow cooker casseroles
