This blister has literally suddenly appeared on my foot overnight. Do I pop it or leave it? It's quite painful 😒

Oooof don’t pop that, you might get an infection. Is it painful? Maybe show a pharmacist and see what they recommend?

How big is it? I'd cover with a blister plaster if small enough to protect it.

It's quite big. I'll see if I can get some large blister plasters

I’m a nurse-but, more importantly, I get a lot of blood blisters. Do you know what caused it? Blood blisters are caused by capillaries breaking and pooling under the skin, normally due to friction or pressure. They also have a tendency of messily bursting when least expected. I would cover it with a soft dressing/blisters pad and keep it away from sources of friction such as tight shoes. Do try and stop it from bursting as the surface of the blister is protecting the skin underneath. If it’s bigger than 2cm or you develop signs of infection seek advice from your pharmacy/GP.
