Unrealistic things that happen in films..

Recently I am noticing more than ever things that are so unrealistic and think it would be so simple to make more believable, is anyone else like this? 😂

• When someone pulls out their phone & presses one button and their instantly calling the right person!?

• How a sudden downpour of rain can just start with no warning!?

• Always the most extravagant meals on the table for every mealtime but the kitchen is never messy!?

You mixing your metaphors there 😂

Smashed to smithereens or burnt to a crisp

🤣 The burnt crisp got smashed to smithereens.

Women in comas always have perfect make up and hair.

Zombie women have ragged clothes but somehow their bras or vest tops stay intact.

And there are never, or very rarely and zombie children. Surely they are going to be the first victims, small, not able to run as fast, lots in the same area (school, playground, school bus) probably better tasting too.

Have we had asking for 'a pint of bitter' or a 'half of lager' in the pub yet?

No onscreen bar server ever follows it up by asking which bitter or lager, and in any case, most people would ask for 'a pint of John Smith's' or 'a half of Fosters' etc.

There are rarely children in anything, and if there are, they are somehow not an inconvenience (having to feed them, having to do the school run, not being able to dash out to save the world without booking childcare...). If kids are considered at all, there is a quick call to grandma or a neighbour, who is always on hand to take the reins.

I like the series Medium for this. Allison and Joe have jobs, and Allison has cases to solve, but they also have 3 kids, share the childcare and cooking, discuss who is taking the kids to school or going to parents' evening...

I did like that about Medium, the ordinariness of their home life.

I also like The Rookie, the couples that have children do have problems with childcare, to the point of two of them interviewing a potential nanny on a drive along.

That reminds me of Coronation Street in the 1980s - when Tracy Langton (as she was then, later Tracy Barlow) went upstairs to do her homework in 1983 and wasn't seen again until 1985.

Or when a small child or baby is shipped in for a scene but it is clear the actors have never been in contact with a child that age.

There is a particularly cringey scene in one of the fast and furious films where the couple with ‘their’ maybe one year old baby are on a rug outside, and the ‘dad’ is just waving random toys at the baby in a really awkward way.

best tv show for me was the Incredible Hulk and when he wrecked his clothes becoming the hulk but the clothes always covered him still in vital places.

then when he returned to being David B he always found clothes that perfectly fitted him on a washing line never creased and he was never arrested for theft

Saddles & bridles in period dramas. Almost always completely wrong.

I've changed my mind about this being an unrealistic plot device as indeed, I do see it in real life but anyway:

The murderous embrace. Two characters lean in to hug each other, presumably both equally sad or happy but then the camera focuses on one actor's face over the shoulder of the other and their face suddenly contorts into an expression of sheer hate and betrayal, signifying their guilt, wicked thoughts, dastardly plans etc.

I used to think that this was very heavy handed but I see murderous embraces quite often. They're more subtle in reality and don't usually mean that the insincere hugger has just killed someone but they're there.

Wrong message..

Nobody ever has to have a name spelled out for them.

E.g. a journalist hears something about 'Ann Jonson' and asks a cop friend to run a check on her. The cop never says, "Is that Anne with an e? Johnson with an h?"

They should have more scenes like this 😁
