Anyone had a COVID jab lately??

Not had one since 2021 but earlier this yr was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease so might explain why every time I have had COVID it it has knocked me for 6 with post viral fatigue for weeks. So considering the jab.

I just want to weigh up any side effects tho, the only issue I had with the vaccine previously was that I had a lot of disturbances to my menstrual cycle. Had a horrendous time with perio lasting weeks and being so heavy and really long cycles in between.

I have an autoimmune condition too and I have the flu and Covid jabs including the booster mid year
covid nearly finished me off as I’m susceptible to illness so for me it’s a no brainer

MaJoady · 26/09/2025 21:00

You know COVID affects you severely and your previous experience of the jab was relatively minor side effects. Why wouldn't you get the jab?

AutumnyCrow · 26/09/2025 21:04

I had one in the spring.

Not in a million years, I blame it for my cancer diagnosis in 2023.

Straycats · 27/09/2025 05:21

Personally I wouldn’t, don’t trust these vaccines. Husband and I both mid 60’s with no health issues, normal blood pressure and our son same too but after the jab at 23 had a heart attack.
Rest of family who previously had the first two, none will have any more, also same goes for the flu jabs.

Namechange822 · 27/09/2025 05:38

I had the covid jab last week, haven’t had one since 2021. I felt rough - tired, feverish etc - for about 12 hours. No other side effects.

GarlicPint · 27/09/2025 05:55

I get the NHS one each winter - this year's is next week for me. It knocks me about a bit, though I can't tell whether it's the flu or Covid one causing it! The flu jab tends to make my arm sore for longer (they do both together, one arm each).

I'd rather feel poorly for a week than the absolute shitshow I'm likely to experience with Covid: I have a lung disease and ME-CFS. As I'm sure you know, a lot of the worst damage done by a Covid infection is a result of the immune reaction. My immune system malfunctions already, so I'm not keen on hitting it with a virus it's unprepared for.

They change the vaccine each year, as they do with flu, so your response many not be the same as last time. In your situation I would obviously have the vax, but it's your own decision.
Stay well either way.

HerRoyalNotness · 27/09/2025 05:59

Yes i had it 2 weeks ago. No side effects. I have an autoimmune disease too and can’t take my meds if I get sick, so I get all the jabs

Ponderingwindow · 27/09/2025 06:07

I get one every fall, just like the flu. It means a couple of days of needing to rest for me. Much preferable to the reaction I tend to have if I catch either flu or Covid.

SouthernNights59 · 27/09/2025 06:45

I had my 9th one last month - no issues with any of them.

DemonsandMosquitoes · 27/09/2025 07:53

My last one had me in A&E 48 hours later with tachycardia. That was after several previous episodes of fast AF after the first vaccines necessitating an ablation. Quite scary as a fit and well 50 year old before it all. Who knows?
No more for me.

waltercrimble · 27/09/2025 08:05

I have 2 autoimmune conditions and wouldn’t touch another covid jab if you paid me. I have had covid this week as well. Felt rough but managed to keep going. It was just a heavy cold with tiredness.

Foxhasbigsocks · 27/09/2025 11:08

I’ve just had the Covid vaccine about 18 hours ago, side effects eg sore arm etc but nothing major and so much better for me and vulnerable dc than me catching Covid and being unable to care for him or giving it to him.

LoafofSellotape · 27/09/2025 11:14

I've had every one that's been offered,I'm pissed off I'm not eligible for it this year as last time I didn't have it I promptly went down with it and was extremely ill. First vaccine was the one they don't use now and I had a weird dizziness reaction which lasted a week but no other reactions since apart from a bit tired and a sore arm. I usually get flu and Covid done together .

Tarkan · 27/09/2025 11:16

I’ve had mine every year but they don’t seem to be doing them here this year, it’s just a free flu jag I’ve been offered and that’s all my parents had at their appointment this week too.

Elizabethandfour · 27/09/2025 11:17

Wouldn’t touch it with a barge poll. Too many side effects, doesn’t prevent COVID as it was designed to do. It’s Russian roulette with the batches. Long Covid is often vaccine injury according to the leading Professor who runs a long Covid clinic. For posterity, he was very pro-vaccine in the early days.

NoTouch · 27/09/2025 11:23

I’ve had a flu and Covid booster every year so far and the only side effect was vomiting all night after my 2nd booster a few years back, no other side effects.

Unlikely to be offered this year as no longer eligible.

I have only knowingly caught Covid once around 2 years ago and it floored me for a week. Other less severe “colds” may have been covid but I didn’t test them.

Financeisfun · 27/09/2025 11:24

Wouldn't have flu or covid jabs if you paid me. I didnt actually realise people still had them. I've not heard them mentioned for ages.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 27/09/2025 11:31

I get it every year due to being on the list for those who have conditions that should. Never have any problems. I think if a professional has told you that it's better for you to have it than not then it shouldn't matter what people on the internet say. The NHS aren't spending money on this for no good reason.

Spicynoodlesheal · 27/09/2025 11:37

No, im convinced they cause cancer

I can't believe people are still believing that.

tinyspiny · 27/09/2025 11:45

I have multiple autoimmune diseases and don’t qualify for the Covid booster this year , I have never had Covid and haven’t had any issue with previous jabs but I’m certainly not bothered enough to pay for one .

People on immune-suppressing medications and treatments are offered them, as a Covid infection could be extremely serious, potentially fatal.

Why wouldn't you at least have the flu jab?
Has anyone ever looked at the graphs of the fall in hospitalisations & deaths after the COVID vaccines were introduced?
I suspect for most people they aren't necessary now as there is a high level of herd immunity but I would always have the flu one.

Deaths are up since the Covid jab. Sudden deaths are up 30%. You have all seen people having heart attacks, strokes all over the country and doctors are baffled. The flu vaccine is claimed to work about 40% of the time. How can they test it if people only get flu about once in 10 years. One study showed that people who get the flu vaccine are more likely to get flu.
