Do you ever wake yourself up talking?

I haven't gone to bed long and someone said they play badminton and I woke up saying squash. I haven't played in years.

Can't be the only one who does this

Yes, and usually with a majorly meaningful and impactful statement like yes, three buckets worth, wedged sideways

InMyHealthyEra · 23/09/2025 23:10

I don’t talk in my sleep as much as I used to but apparently I occasionally still wake up and come out with a reply to something, 9/10 times I don’t remember it

menopausalfart · 23/09/2025 23:45

Yes, all the time. I'm usually swearing at someone.

mummymetalhead · 23/09/2025 23:54

yep I sleep talk most nights and sometimes wake myself up

CalicoPusscat · 23/09/2025 23:54

Some of these are funny 🤣

Mine tonight was quite boring! Hope I get back to sleep

Not talking but I have woken up crying, screaming or laughing hysterically on separate occasions, I've no idea why or what I was dreaming about !

MyElatedUmberFinch · 24/09/2025 00:11

Another laugher here.

DinoLil · 24/09/2025 00:28

Oh, regularly! 😆

Coffee62 · 24/09/2025 00:33

Never.. also never woke up screaming, crying or otherwise. I just seem to wake up “normally”.
However I must add I am a very deep sleeper and DP regularly hears me talking in my sleep. I was also known to sit bolt upright at around 0300 and just stare into the corner of the room?! I have no memory of it.

Often! I have always had very vivid and wacky dreams and quite often wake myself up by laughing at least once a week. I really should take a pen and paper to bed so I can write them down as soon as I wake as within 10 minutes usually all memory of the dream is gone.

a few memorable ones;

woke myself and whole household up by shouting Adverse Camber! Adverse Camber! I don’t even know what one is.

another time, and this will out me as this particular friend is on MN (Hi!)
I was always a huge Spandau Ballet fan, in particular Gary Kemp. In the late 90’s / early 00’s when they were busy suing each other, I once woke my friend up (we were sharing a bed Eric and Ernie style) by brandishing my purse at her and telling her ‘just go to the front door, take £10 out my purse and tell that Tony Hadley to eff off’

i don’t often have nightmares but when I do they are as vivid as the funny ones so not so nice.

More often I wake up DH. Sometimes I wake up myself.

I do everything from talk to scream at the top of my lungs in my sleep. Often the only way to defend myself in the dream is to say something very loud over and over but I’m struggling to get it out.

I've woken myself up laughing. On trains. Which then makes me giggle at how funny I must've looked.
