Cheap reading glasses?

I have recently been recommended to wear reading glasses. I will stress, this isn’t essential - which is why I’m not overly bothered about spending lots on them. I spend a lot of time at the computer because of my job and recently my eyes felt strained , I’ve then began to notice that when my phone or my laptop screen is too close it becomes blurry. I went for an eye test and the optician said my vision is great, 20/20 , but that it’s basically an age thing ( I’m almost 40 ) and the fact that I spend a lot of time at my laptop and like most people when I’m not at the laptop I tend to be on my phone or reading.

i was told to wear reading glasses just for when I’m on my phone , laptop or reading but no need for glasses for anything else. As I’m going to be only using them for that I don’t see the need to spend upwards of £70 on them so I didn’t get any in the opticians . Does anyone have any recommendations for cheaper ones I can get online ?

My prescription is ( if anyone understands this as I do not ) :

Right : SPH - Plano , CYL -0.25 , AXIS 170 , ADD + 0.75

Left : SPH - Plano , CYL -0.25 , AXIS 175 , ADD + 0.75

Bonus points if they have a blue light filter

☺️

As you only have a minimal cyl and both eyes have a very similar prescription. If you need a +0.75 add you will probably be fine with a +1 off the shelf reading glasses which are widely available, if you want something with a blue filter there are plenty on Amazon

If you need glasses specifically for computer use at work your employer should contribute I think, I know mine has a scheme and so did my last one (I don't use it because I am blind as a bat and get free eye tests and wear glasses / contacts full time anyway). I'd be over the moon if my glasses cost as little as £70.

Or go to Superdrug or somewhere and pick up a pair of +1 and see how you get on.

I only saw ‘from £70’ but my son has a really strong prescription and we get them thinned too and they are so expensive !!

Now you say this, I do think I have seen something on my work account about glasses so I could check .

Before this post I wouldn’t have known what +1 meant so I’ll look now , thank you x

Perfect thank you , I have seen blue light filter ones on Amazon but I didn’t know if they were just a blue light filter , so I’ll have a look !

I buy mine in Primark about £2 a pair

I buy mine in Superdrug or Boots - a couple of £2 a pair. There are multiple ones spread around the house as I need them to read the back of packets, washing symbols and similar - my prescription is 1.25 ... but started at .75 when I was your age. I'd see how you get on with the cheap ones.
