Best way to move Ikea wardrobes?

We recently bought some Ikea pax wardrobes (two 100cm and two 50cm) and have put them all together against one of our bedroom walls. However I want to rearrange the layout of our room and move the wardrobes to different walls.

what’s the best way to do this? Dismantle and reassemble? Or move them whole? There’s about 5 to 10cm clearance from the ceiling. I’m also very open to hiring someone to do this, would a house removal company be best? I found someone who was willing to do it but I don’t think he’s done this before and his plan was to dismantle and reassemble

We moved ours, but ours are open plan and have no doors on. We had to take the shelves out otherwise they were too heavy. Then we could lift and shuffle!

They can be very heavy.

if you take the doors off it’s usually doable but be warned that the back can pop out depending on construction.

I would always start with the easier option and only move to the harder option if necessary.

Are they 100cm and 50cm wide? You can probably get a towel or two underneath them and drag/push them over to the other wall, if you have hard floors. That's how I always move heavy furniture.

Yep 100cm wide and 50cm wide. We have thick carpet on the bedroom floor so using a towel to move them probably won’t work. Sounds like removing the drawers and possibly the doors, is going to be the way forward! It doesn’t help that our bedroom has limited space to manoeuvre

You can get furniture slides that go under legs or corners. A hard, grippier plastic on one side and slippery nylon on the other side, with curved edges. They might not exactly glide across carpet, but they might make it easier to move the units. I would remove all drawers and shelves, but leave the hanging rail. Once you’ve got the unit on the slides, move it by pushing and pulling at the bottom, not at your natural height.
