I think bubble and byoma are good options.aveeno is good too. For lipcare, vaseline.

Cerave are good

Cerave, bubble, byoma and aveeno as mentioned above. Don’t let them get anything too harsh they’ll probably say ALL their friends have Drunk Elephant etc, but they really don’t and it’s not correct for their skin.

Do they need anything bar soap and water? Unless they are further into puberty and getting spots, why do they need a "skin care routine," at 11? I teach this age and have a 14 yo. Only in the last year has she started being remotely interested in anything like that or make up. The y7 girls are mostly still v v young in their approach, which is lovely. They have decades to worry about lotions and potions.

byoma good ingredients not too experienced and it’s trendy at the minute

My 11 year old has been using nip fab teen range for last year her skin & hair started changing at 9 we tried simple but it just made her skin worse .
nip fab has been great for her skin cleared spots and the shower gel has cleared her eczema up

Byoma and Nip & fab are great. I like both brands myself.
Yes when I was their age, skincare was water if forced and lip gloss freebie from a magazine but times have changed.

Skin hasn't changed. Why do 11 year olds need skincare unless they have spots?

I bet nobody is getting their sons to use skincare at that age.

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 18/09/2025 21:10

My dd has ridiculously sensitive skin, she uses simple products.

Lastsheet · 18/09/2025 21:48

She’s just started getting interested in it. I want to get her something really really mild (otherwise she will probably end up trying to use mine which will be v harsh on her skin). I wasn’t into it at her age, but times have changed and yes, if my son asked, I’d be putting a similar post up.

Likewise, @Lastsheet. @dynamiccactus I don't see it as 'getting them' to use skincare. I think when either of my kids - daughter and son - want to use some, they can, or if they're happy with soap and water, whatever. I might encourage them to use a gentle cleanser and light moisturiser and be kind to their skin if they do develop spots during puberty, which would contrast pretty starkly to my childhood.

I had terrible acne as a teen and my mother was mortified - she always views me with an air of suspicion with a sprinkling of disgust, as though she's not entirely sure where I came from but she wishes I'd find a way back there - so having acne on my face and shoulders really grossed her out. I was a child in the 90s so our choice of skincare was the St Ives apricot scrub. I was convinced that stuff had magical powers but really it just made my skin sore. Wish I'd had a parent around to help.

I remember that, clearasil and oxy!

CeraVe

APurpleSquirrel · 21/09/2025 16:50

My DD is 11 & already going through puberty. She has sensitive skin so uses a Simple cream cleanser & Simple moisturiser. Though not everyday as she can’t be bothered. She’s not really aware of skincare brands yet & I’ve said she doesn’t need much atm.
