Craniosacral Therapy (for adults, not babies!)

Has anyone any experience?

I had a massage a few months ago (at a place that's a bit woo, but I enjoy that about it). She finished off by just placing her fingers on the back of my neck, where the skull meets it and just holding and taking the weight of my head, while I was lying face up.

It was the most amazing sensation, I felt like I was gently falling through water, so unbelievably relaxed. Afterwards, I asked her about it and she said it was a craniosacral therapy technique and I seemed to enjoy and respond well to it so she had carried on with it.

I have since noticed that she offers just craniosacral therapy sessions, and I'm very tempted. Has anyone else have any experience?

Online it talks about back pain/chronic pain issues or for babies! It wouldn't be for that for me, I'd be trying to chase that insane relaxation again.

I had it from a properly qualified and insured osteopath. It was nice and sort of improved my problems for a while but it seemed too gentle. The good effects never really stuck long term.

DH used to see a craniosacral osteopath for a badly injured/long "healed" disc problem. Over six months, his problems were fixed and have never returned. The therapist taught the techniques, mainly in Germany. Sadly, he's retired now, but he was a genius.

My osteopath does cranial work and I've found it great for neck pain and migraines.

I had it after the dog head butted my nose and shoved everything back a bit. I found it helps with headaches too.

I had it and it did nothing for me, I'm afraid.

I had it once when my migraines were bad. It was very odd. Felt too gentle to do anything but it did do something - it made quite a lot of changes is the way my head and face held tension. Not a miracle cure in any way but alongside other treatments did get my migraines under control.

Thanks all! I've booked a session this week and will see how I get on!
