Why would you wish someone a Happy Birthday on Instagram when they’re not even on it?

And it’s a husband wishing it to his wife. Isn’t social media weird!

To show that he’s the perfect husband !

Usually accompanied by pictures they like of the person and its their affirmation to the world they love this person and are proud to be their spouse. I don't find this to be a problem at all and enjoy pics of people I know or follow. If you don't then just scroll past.

Unsure why you would start a MN post but in the same spirit you are very welcome to and people can choose to engage or scroll past too.

Yet more performative nonsense.

People really are screwed up these days.

mindutopia · 16/09/2025 16:18

It’s just performative. The people who do this the hardest are always the ones with the most unhappy relationships who are trying to prove to themselves and everyone else that life is all rainbows and unicorns.

I’m pretty sure my mum still does this for me and the dc. We’ve been NC for 5 years. One of my children would have no idea who the hell she was if she dropped onto our doorstep. But it’s not about the person, it’s all about public perception. She doesn’t give a poop about us, but she cares an awful lot about what her friends think of her.

Lots of people have Instagram and Facebook linked. Posts on Insta show on Facebook too. But this kind of crap is just performative as others have said.
