How much would expect to save from this?

I stupidly didn’t put savings away at the start of the month. If you had 231 left till payday (10 days away) no bills left to pay from that. How much should I aim to save? What would you do?

Do you need fuel, food, do you have any plans?

It’s possible to say!

mondaytosunday · 15/09/2025 17:51

If all you have to buy is food then £131.

It depends if you have to buy food and/or petrol. You can only save what you can spare.

No need to buy food. Just personal expenses

No coffees or treats at all…for anyone?

I'd spend the lot, it's a really small amount of money.

For ten days? Everything paid for?

Well have you got any plans at the weekend? We don’t tend to buy coffees/treats etc on weekdays as we’re all too bloody busy. Weekends, in the absence of a specific activity planned, I’d maybe budget £30-£50 for a cafe stop on a dog walk, for example.

Yes.

In going for a drink with my cousin tomorrow (£10) then a meal with friends later in the week (£30). plus £12 on the bus to and from work until the end of the month. So total is £52.

But then that’s me and I’m not you!

I don't have anything that involves spending money planned.

Having friends round for dinner at the weekend, but we already have the food/booze in for that.

So, yeah, I'd just save the lot, unless there was something I wanted or needed to buy, but I dont anticipate any non food/bills spending in the next 10 days.

(To be fair, my DH has his own spends money, and my kids are now grown up, so I'm only really talking about me.)

zipadeedodah · 15/09/2025 19:16

Have you got any nights out planned?

No nothing planned but i suppose if I say I want to save it all..and the. If I don’t I’ll feel like I failed 😬

Is it just you or husband/kids? I know with my children I could spend that money over a weekend.

I'm not sure I understand your logic. Spend what you want or need to spend, and save what's left.

Personally, I'm not someone who spends for spending sake, so I find it relatively easy. I just scoop over surplus at the end of each month.

Even if you only save £10 you will feel like you’ve saved something which should make you feel good
