What treat or treats would you spend £50 on?

Ive been given £50 for my birthday.
I hate the thought of it getting absorbed into my general outgoings and ending up being spent on food shop or childrens clothes for example so I want to buy something but at the moment I have no idea what!
If you had £50 what would you spend it on?

I'd be like you OP
£50 would most likely go towards the weekly shop, or to get something necessary and practical ( haircut?) rather than something gifty and likely unnecessary.
One thing I might have done at one point before it became as overpriced as it is now, which I resent, would be to treat my DH and I to a nice meal out.
I think now it would be more likely a nicely made special meal in, and a nice bottle of something to go with it.
Another idea might be to have a run out to some place nice, and have a lovely tea, in a restaurant or a pub.
Happy Birthday whatever you do with your gift!

There's a book recently been released that I would like to read so I would get that.
There's a DVD box set I want (the show is on a channel I don't get).
I've also seen some t-shirts I like online so would order one of those.
That probably takes me to the £50

A facial. Love a bit of pampering.

Comedycook · 14/09/2025 17:10

A high street perfume from M&S or next or Zara.
Some nice chocolate truffles
A book
A lipstick

MyElatedUmberFinch · 14/09/2025 17:11

A black and a white bra.

CarrieMoonbeams · 14/09/2025 17:17

What a lovely gift!

I'd buy:
some miniature daffodil bulbs (about £10 or £12 for 50 seems a fairly standard price), so they'll flower in Spring when we all need a little boost.

a couple of 'new' books, probably from eBay though, so 2 VG condition ones for about £5 each including postage.

a 1 litre bottle of Bailey's, but I'd get that on offer for £20 somewhere.

and finally I'd go for a little browse around town and have a hot chocolate and a cake in a cafe somewhere.

I guess for me it would be what you would think as a treat most

Eg £50 on books /kindle credit - for a book reader great buy if you hate reading ....

Suggestions: posh bath oil, pair of silver earrings, spring flowering bulbs, with 20% M&as discount merino cardigan or leather ankle boots, perfume, brightly coloured new scarf, books, towards one of those pens from Tom's Studio, ....

LandSharksAnonymous · 14/09/2025 17:23

Home Fragrance Gift Box - get myself some nice room spray, perhaps a few candles etc.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2025 17:32

Two lovely fat hardback cookery books with lots of pictures

or some Clarins facial tan drops and a big bunch of white roses

or a Chanel lipstick and a box of posh chocolates

Sprig1 · 14/09/2025 17:47

Either a trip to Waitrose/M&S to buy treat food or something for the garden.

YessicaHaircut · 14/09/2025 17:48

I’ve got my eye on the Holland & Barrett beauty advent calendar which is £50. The products are worth over £200 apparently and would last a good few months.

FurForksSake · 14/09/2025 17:49

watercolour paints
good hot chocolate
candles
hand knitted house socks

Andnowshesapreschooler · 14/09/2025 17:54

I would go to cafe Nero in my local city n sit the big chairs and have a lovely coffee and perhaps a cake £8
On my way I would pop into Waterstones for a book to read £10
And because I am a slow reader there will be lots of book left so I would get myself a nice pair of PJ's from next £25
And a yo sushi too good to go bag £7
And go have a lovely evening at home perhaps splash an extra fiver on a lush bomb.

ACAC2023 · 14/09/2025 17:59

IggyAce · 14/09/2025 18:04

Nuxe lip balm

a facial or back massage.

SushiDisco · 14/09/2025 18:05

I’m nearly out of foundation so would re purchase that (£30ish)

then maybe get my nails done or buy some new books.

TheScottishPlay · 14/09/2025 18:11

A book, especially a cookery book I had been hankering after.

M&S perfume - red berries is a favourite at the moment.

Cosy socks and or a scarf.

Roka Paddington bag in an Autumn colour.

Decent tinted moisturiser.

Yellowview · 14/09/2025 18:14

Facial
reiki
maybe put towards new trainers/boots depending if you can top up
nice bit of makeup
or take yourself out for lunch/film

apokeyweeplace · 14/09/2025 18:16

Similarly I would:
Buy an audible book for 7.99
Buy a £20 coffee voucher and while away time drinking coffee and listening to a great book.
I would then spend the £22 on something sweet smelling and frivolous at Space NK. Lovely.
