French campsites

We are thinking of camping abroad for the first time next year. I’m overwhelmed by the choice! Are there any companies that I can look at? Ideally looking for somewhere drivable from Calais. There’s so much choice!!

We’ve been with Les Castels and Yelloh campsites.
Both were brilliant. Sandaya also very good but no first hand experience- just what friends have said.

Yelloh have an app and you can pull up a map of all the sites. There is an equivalent on the Les Castels website. You can narrow your search then depending on how far you want to drive.

In the past we have also looked on the Eurocamp or Canvas holidays sites to choose a site- then gone directly to the site to book with them.

French campsites are fab- we have had the best of times!

We like Yelloh Villages in France - have a look at their website for starters

worth having a look at Eurocamp website too for ideas but it’s normally cheaper to book direct- eurocamp don’t own any sites as such

Siblu if you are considering the west coast

Yelloh are fantastic. Highly recommend both Portland and Les Mouettes. We book pitches with private sanitary facilities and it’s just brilliant.

As another poster has suggested, look at the Eurocamp website but book accomodation direct with the campsite as it is usually cheaper and of a better standard.

Recommend Yelloh sites too. We’ve stayed at about lots of different ones over the years. Recommend Le Pin Parasol, Les Grands Pins, Pyla, Sylvamar and St Emilion.

Siblu sites have been great when we’ve been to the west coast. We prefer to drive slightly further for the weather and usually get a late afternoon Eurotunnel crossing, drive a couple of hours, stay somewhere and arrive on site ready to check in the next day. French campsites are great. We usually book a larger mobile home (with air con as a preference) with a covered terrace to eat on.
