I'm in wait mode this morning...sitting at the kitchen table, finishing my coffee.

It's uni move in day for dd1 so the cases are ready & we're just about to call an Uber to the train station!

Once dd's moved in, we'll go food shopping, find somewhere to eat & it'll be time to leave before we know it 😥.

When we get in, it'll be quick shower for me, and bed. Ready for work tomorrow. Dd1's got plans for this evening - she's off out with her new flatmates, to a Freshers event!

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m welling up just thinking about the day DD goes to uni so I hope it’s going well Lucysmam! She’ll love it.

Saw DD off to her first hockey practice of the year this morning then went back to bed with a coffee - and fell back to sleep. Ah well! I’m lounging around now with another coffee and watching the athletics. Going to be difficult to prize me off it this afternoon but I need to do a clean through and prep for a job interview tomorrow. Bit nervous!

Im going to do soup and crusty bread for dinner, first hearty soup of the season! And we will watch Educating Yorkshire as DD loves it. Hope you all have a lovely day!

How exciting for your DD to be starting university @lucysmam Hope everything goes well and congratulations to you both.

Happy Birthday @OnlyOneAdda

We are having a Sunday roast dinner soon. Have just hoovered upstairs as dusty from the builders who have been putting in a new bathroom upstairs who are back on Monday hopefully for final day.

Cat woke me up at 7am with a big fluffy white paw going down my leg for tuna and a cuddle which he has had. Then silkies started asking for their breakfast and to be let out which is done. Cleaning downstairs after Sunday lunch then if time painting bathroom. Have booked a spa day with DH for mid week.

It's a big weekend for all the fresher's and their parents.

The Godson arrived yesterday and about 2h later his eldest brother found the swipe card for his halls in his pocket.

No reply on his mobile (possibly because he had been out with his friends from home until 7:30am!)
We eventually left it with his middle brother.
Their mum and I had a lovely afternoon in the pub 🍻🍸
I'm just back from my class, bit of a chill, lunch and some time in the garden this afternoon. Need to pull the beetroot and get it pickled.
Pork fillet for tea followed by Rhubarb crumble

Had a lie in
Took the dog for a walk at a local park
Came home had a peppermint tea and a croissant
Done another load of washing and hoovered downstairs
Dh is away with work until tomorrow
Dd came back from her boyfriend’s made her beans on toast and she’s just left for work. She’s going back to her house tomorrow to get ready for starting back at university the following week. Its a new house she’s sharing with friends so she wants to get her room sorted.I’ll see her on Tuesday as we are going to London for a couple of days as we need to get her some dance bits (she’s doing a degree in dance and performing arts in her 2nd year) we are also going to see a show and just have a wander around seeing the sights also booked a table at The Ivy as a surprise.
Just me for tea so going to have sourdough toast with bacon mushrooms beans and scrambled eggs.
Will help Dd pack her car when she gets home later then watch tv.

Hello
Feel loads better than yesterday but nowhere near 100% so still having lots of hot drinks, Beechams lemon etc.
DD made sausage and scrambled egg again for breakfast. I added some raw onion as years ago my Uncle Eric told me Aunty Ena had onion sandwiches and 'she never got the cold.' No idea if it's true or not.
Dropped DS off at the metro station for church then took DD to work. Came back and managed to unload and reload the dishwasher tho then had to sit and recover for ages.
DD has finished early so is meeting DS at McD for their lunch. DH went out for more beechams lemon and some dishwasher tablets (the excitement!)
Starting to eye up my desk as been off this week and it needs tidying so I can wfh tomorrow.
Lunch so far has been a packet of mini cheddars and a mini cucumber as I'm not really up to cooking yet, I'll just get a runny nose or start sneezing.
Despite DH not having a cold he has insisted he needs to rest/watch Battlestar Galactica all day.
I think I might have a very brief stroll to the post box to post my friend a sympathy card. It's not raining here right now - but it might!
When I get back I'll read what everyone else is doing - DD didn't want to go to university as she doesn't know what she wants to do yet so not part of that this year, good luck to all who are.

Keep strong lucysmam and remember you've raised a child who is ready, willing and able to do this. Be proud of her and yourself.

JacknDiane · 14/09/2025 16:55

Hope the day went well for you @lucysmam, have a cry if you need it but be proud you've raised an independent girl.

Had a lovely lie in, then had bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Did some tidying and vacuumed. Did a tip run of the hedge clippings from yesterday, called at Sainsbury's then took ddog a walk along the canal. Got caught in the rain so had a lovely hot shower when I got home.

Listening to classic fm, scrolling and had an egg custard.

Enchiladas for tea when dh has mustered up the energy. His arms ache from yesterday's hedge cutting. He always cooks and loves it. I'm very lucky!

BunnyLover7 · 14/09/2025 18:29

Phew what a day! Did a 4 hour shift & it was absolutely potty! Every man & his dog in the store sheltering from the rain. Glad to finish & go home via Lidl for milk & Emmental slices which DH has been craving lately (just the cheese). I wanted to buy roses too but they didn’t have a lot of flowers in. When I got home, I couldn’t find my mobile anywhere. DH & I were going food shopping anyway so called in at Lidl but nobody had handed it in. I got back to the car & was about to look under the seats when I spotted it, down the side of the passenger seat - huge relief! I actually cried! Our whole lives are in our phones, aren’t they? Did the Tesco shop then back for a much needed drink. Met DD16’s GF for the first time, although I have spoken to/seen her on FaceTime. I did the dishwasher, sorted the laundry & peeled a load of spuds. Having chicken breasts with oregano cooked in foil, roasties & broccoli. The girls are sorting themselves out. Dropping DD’s GF at the station around 9.
