Why all the finger V shapes and pouting from kids in photos?

What is the deal with this?!

Constantly seeing pictures of kids doing it nowadays even ones as young as 3 or 4 😥 Seems really sad that they are 'posing' in photos at such a young age.

Don't think alot of the american/Asian youtube and Netflix influences help......

The V sign thing i was referring to is when they sort of make both fingers into the sign and put them over their eyes....or they just do the peace sign in the air (not so bad as it least it doesn't get in the way of their face in a photo)

But the pouting thing is the worst.Pouting is a sexual gesture, no question.

There’s another childhood photo of me where I’m grinning inanely, and moving my arms about in time to music. But in my defence, I didn’t know the picture was being taken - I was blindfolded!

Completely! A really very recent phenomenon - last 4 years or so. Definitely worse from Y5 up.

Have we talked about the hand under the chin yet? That might be old hat, who knows.

There was one a few years ago where kids/teens would all cover their mouth with their hand for photos. What was that about?!

It is detestable. Ditto poking your tongue out in photos.

Perhaps they were pretending there was some deadly virus or something.

I find it so sad that people copy so much they see on Tik Tok etc regardless of how ridiculous it is.

There are always trends. I’m 44 and recently looked through some old school pics - so many poses, hands on hips, peace signs, hands covering mouth - kids just having fun.

I'm 63 and we would never have dared make silly faces in photos or would have got a hot arse for our trouble!

I hate that commercial for Matalan children's clothes, where there is a group of kids coming out of school and one of them does just that. It's rude, imo.

Oh yes! That was awful too.As is putting the phone in front of their faces....its sad if they feel they should hide their face :(

How about the sticking out tongues looks awful.
