Returning unsuitable Items to Vinted seller?

I am a new vinted user, I bought a few tops from them this week, different sellers but all the same brand and size. Two are fine the other (the most expensive one) is huge like its a size up from what it is supposed to be and it also smells really bad even though it is "new with tags". I thought the buyer protection meant you could return unsuitable items but looking again now I'm not so sure.

Anyone have any experience in what to do here? Am I stuck with it?

You probably can return it but you’ll have to pay postage. Which sucks, but it’s in the t&c that you agreed to. I’ve never bothered returning anything a bit unsuitable tbh but I only buy things which are a few pounds so it’s not worth the return postage cost.

@modgepodge Thanks it was £20 so not so super expensive but not great if it is not something I'll actually wear.

It’s not a shop - buyer protection means pretty much nothing.

if it’s the size on the label of the top that it was sold as then it is what is - you’ll have to resell it. Some sizes vary even in same brands.

however, if it smells then you should raise a not as described as new without tags should be fresh - you should get the opportunity to return / most likely you will have to pay the return fee. Unfair as it may seem if it is significantly not as described.

So all three items are labelled as a specific size, but one seems bigger?

If the seller has listed the item as a 10 for example, but the label says 12 then you should be able to return it (unfortunately likely you would have to cover P&P).

If the seller has listed it as a 10 and the label says it's a 10 then they have listed it correctly.

Regarding the smell...you can raise a dispute and see what Vinted say? The seller might offer a partial refund or you may have to return it at your cost unfortunately.

Vinted seems to offer very little protection for either side.

@OrigamiOwls I have raised a dispute on the smell issue as it's bad and the seller has previous feedback commenting on the bad smell of their items. Very disappointing to be honest as the smell is probably the most off putting part. Perhaps the seller has gone nose blind?

For £20 it is worth returning even if you pay postage IMO. I rarely buy anything more than £5 so by the time I’ve paid £3 postage it’s not worth the hassle.

I have returned a couple of things using the "significantly not as described" option. You select that then the seller decides to refund you. I did that with a dress that smelled of smoke with no bother and didn't have to pay return postage on that occasion.

It is annoying as they whack on 'protection' fees but I'm not sure what that actually covers

I’d just put it in the wash if I liked it otherwise. You can’t return something just because it doesn’t fit you - sizes are random within even the same shop! As long as the size on the label is what the seller claims then they’ve not listed incorrectly - whether it fits you or not is irrelevant. You can of course ask them to refund, but when people have done this to me as a seller I have said no, not my problem 🤷‍♀️

Check the comments on sellers before you buy op. Always.
It’s fine to raise an issue. Vinted will decide. Then you’ll get to send them back.
