My 10 year old is super high energy and active and needs to be on the go pretty much constantly.

Over the summer we have been going to the beach in the sea which he likes when it's warm only, and when it's dry he keeps busy at the skatepark, but now it's turning wet again I'm struggling for ways to keep him occupied and away from screens! He doesn't like Lego, can't read for long periods and isn't keen on drawing or crafting... He won't go to any organised after school clubs like football/tennis. What suggestions for activities might I be missing?!

It's more the after school time I need help with as at weekends we can go for days out. What do you do with your preteens to get them to burn energy??!

Darn, it didn't focus and suggested mostly outside things, I'll remove those suggestions.
Swimming or diving lessons? (at a pool) You may need to try a few things to find one he likes. A drama or dance or cookery class?
Ohh how about an Electric train set?

Nature walks near home. It has to be very bad weather not to be ok in a raincoat and wellies with an umbrella.
Or walk on the beach as you like it there.

Swimming or indoor sport like badminton with you.

Home construction projects e.g. junk modelling or wooden marble run or kaplas or knex.

Cooking with you.

Would he be interested in learning tricks with a skipping rope? That is very high energy. Or a hula hoop?
Can he juggle? I have an active 10yo and things that require sitting still (apart from screens) do not work unless he also has something active to do and can go between them.
Could you fit a chin-up bar somewhere in your house/garden?

Thanks both! Good shout with the juggling I'd forgotten he has an interest in learning that after seeing me playing with oranges 🤣 Will get some off eBay.

Tricks with a skipping rope - will look up!

He Hates walking (we have two dogs and they've gone waaay out the other side of being keen on walking 😂)!

We have a pull up bar and various work out equipment which I'll get him back in to. We also have a keyboard but he's just inclined to be "silly" on it (he's on the ADHD diagnosis pathway 🙄) so TBF non of us really want that!

Not super keen on cooking with him (tried and failed!) but I had the idea of starting him and his sibling cooking once a week which he might like!

Am looking more at activities that don't need a lot of adult input as I am often cleaning and tidying/dog walking/cooking/helping sibling with homework at this time so can't guarantee too much of my time consistently with him..

Is there a climbing wall near you, or an ice rink?

If he enjoys swimming could he join a swim club? Squads often train a few evenings a week and IME those who are ND benefit as its natural sensory input.

even better if leisure centre is near you and you can drop off and pick up!
