So how many days was your DC back at school before they got a cold?

4 days for us.

Was hoping now they're in year 6 we'd last a little longer before getting ill.

So far it's just one DC but I have a tickly throat.

It took 2 days for me.

NuffSaidSam · 11/09/2025 21:05

7 days in and everyone is healthy. Also, no sign of any nits.

We have been blessed!

(Or it's the calm before the storm and we're about to get Noro, worms and nits all at the same time.)

2 weeks and all good so far

modgepodge · 11/09/2025 21:09

ONE DAY!! (nursery age)

I do realise though that actually, that’s probably too quick to have actually caught it at nursery and it may have been brewing before that.

but still, one day back in childcare and a cough/snotty nose starting sums life up doesn’t it 😂

Chobby · 11/09/2025 21:09

4 days for the 11 year old. 7 for the 6 year old. Middle one never gets ill!

Domino211 · 11/09/2025 21:11

2 days for my 15 year old, I thought I’d escaped it but have a really sore throat tonight…….

movehimintothesun · 11/09/2025 21:11

DD woke up with one on Day 3! Luckily a very short lived affair.

nobodysdaughter · 11/09/2025 21:15

2 days, now I’ve got it

BunfightBetty · 11/09/2025 21:17

I’m not tempting fate ….

hmmnotreallysure · 11/09/2025 21:19

I work in a school, been back 1 week and got the sniffles and a sore throat starting today.

stayathomer · 11/09/2025 21:20

NuffSaidSam

we once got nits a bug and chicken pox one after the other, I swear the school thought we were making it up!!!

EcoCustard · 11/09/2025 21:22

Dc1 lasted 2 days, Dc4 lasted 4 days. My other 2 dc ok so far. I work in a school & lasted 4 days, cold already.

franke · 11/09/2025 21:26

Actually it was nearly 3 weeks, but once it took hold it was grim, poor ds.

fateisdestined2025 · 11/09/2025 21:50

Not a cold but reception aged child got a fever yesterday after being in 2 half days and 5 full days. Not sure if that’s normal.

Cleanthatup · 11/09/2025 21:56

2 days in and the boys had a bug, being sick for 2 days!! They ended up taking 4 days off.

Sixredjumpersoneblackskirt · 11/09/2025 21:56

3 days for dc2, dc3 still OK. I started 5 days. They're in 6th form now so hopefully not too many more years of illness!

Crunchymum · 12/09/2025 16:15

Sorry to hear about all the poorly children (and parents! And staff!)

Hoping everyone has a restful weekend.

I work in a school and neither me or my children have had a cold for over 18 months. I put it down to having a good gut microbiome from not eating UPF.

I don’t eat UPF and I have a cold.

BallybunionTao · 12/09/2025 16:26

Seven days, whereupon he turned into a croaky-voiced human snot explosion, and promptly gave it to me.

HiGunny · 12/09/2025 16:27

2 days for DS2, 5 days for DS1 and 7 days for me. And if course I'm the one has it the worst! 😭 🤧 Somehow DH has escaped....yet again....
