Ear piercing infected

Hello,

Looking for some advice from anyone who's been through something similar. My DD6 got her ears pierced at a high street store 4 weeks ago. All was going well until last night she mentioned one felt sore - I had a closer look and thought the earring looked very tight on her ear. Went to move it slightly to get a better look and pus actually exploded out of it. Obviously I took her straight to wall in centre. Doctor there removed it (which was awful, very painful for DD). Lots more pus and blood came out. He prescribed an antibiotic cream to clear up the infection which we need to use for a week.
I removed the other one when we came home and bathe that ear also - looks like the earrings used were cheap stainless steel (despite the fact I paid for something different).
I contacted a piercer I've used before for my own piercings, she advised let it heal up for a couple of weeks and she would look at repiercing. She said the infection was caused by the bar being much too short as it didn't allow for swelling.
DD is devastated they had to come out and I feel so sorry for her - she had been asking for ages. But I'm unsure if I should wait a few months so they heal fully or go with the suggestion of repiercing with a needle this time in 2 weeks? Amy advice?

Where did you go, it wasn't Claire's was it? I'm assuming they were done with a gun?

Go with the advice from the professional piercer - who presumably uses a needle and not a gun?

No not Claires, but similar. It was a single use gun but I think I was had with the earring itself, what we asked for was not what we got. Also even getting off the one that wasn't infected took ages - it was ridiculously tight.

Yes she uses a needle - she's done a few for me previously. I should have insisted on her first day but DD was adamant she wanted to go same place as her friend.

All being well they’ll probably be fully healed within a few weeks and then assuming DD wants them redone I’d go to your piercer who sounds like they know what they’re doing and if they’re happy to re pierce then I wouldn’t have any further concerns.
