Yesterday I was offered a term time job. I have a months notice to serve.
However I have annual leave already booked for two weeks in November and a day booked off next June for an event.

The job is not in a school but works with schools.
Do I accept the job and say' by the way, I'm off to Malaga in in November and I need a Friday off next year'

I know it sounds silly but I've been for the same company for decades and never even had an interview since 2003!! 😆 🤣

Usually new jobs honour existing commitments. However, you need to speak to them and make them aware before accepting the job.

Congratulations! Yes, tell them now.

Caveat - I mean I would tell them now. I’m not an HR expert.

Well done!

Tell them - most employers will honour pre-booked holidays. If your contract does not include a holiday entitlement, you may be asked to take it unpaid.

I have a term time job too but can buy additional leave/take unpaid leave to have time off outside of school hols. Two weeks would be a lot of cash to lose, and November is not long after starting, would you not consider rearranging that holiday if you can anyway?

Thank you for your replies!
Next question.
When do I actually put my notice in. I am moving from one LA to another, an enhanced DBS will need to be done and references cleared.

I am clearly clueless as I've worked for the same LA for nearly 40 years and just transferred departments!!
Thanks for your help, while I navigate this.
