London premier inns

Calling all London MNetters or those who know hotels!
I am taking the kids for a few days in London next month and need a premier inn.
Can anyone recommend one which is:

  1. Well located for the tube in to central London.
  2. Near a supermarket for lunches etc, one with a cafe gets bonus points for being close to cheaper dinners for the kids.
  3. Would prefer free parking as I would park up then just use the tube.

Thanks!

Premier Inn Southwark Station has all that, but not parking. It may be too central for you, but it has everything on your doorstop

Which side of London will you be driving into @Eileen101? That will help with suggestions. No point us recommending somewhere that’s the opposite of London. Unless you enjoy spending ‘quality time’ in gridlocked traffic.

I think you need to weigh up staying further out with parking and using the tube in/out of London, and just staying somewhere more central! Which direction are you coming from because you don't want to drive all the way round London to get to where you're staying.

there is a travel lodge in Raynes Park if you are looking for south of the river. train into Waterloo takes 15 mins.

Waitrose, co-op, cafes etc on doorstep

Which side of London are you driving into? I live in z2, there’s free parking on my street and you’re very welcome if you’re this way. Five minutes to an Overground.

Beckton Premier Inn could work for you and it has a Brewers Fayre child friendly pub next door. Close to Beckton DLR couple minutes walk. I think you'll struggle to find somewhere with free parking tbh - Beckton Premier Inn is £15 a day to park there.

Oh yes, the direction would help🤦‍♀️ we are coming from elsewhere in London, but going home to the Midlands on the way back. So realistically at some point I'd be in gridlocked traffic I guess.
Areas we are visiting are south bank, regents park, tower Hill, but these places all seem quite accessible in the tube.

We always park at Osterley which is about £9 for 24hrs and travel in on the Piccadilly line. Then stay at Premier Inn Putney Bridge on the District line. Easily accessible to all the main attractions.

We had a great time at Premier Inn County Hall but parking was expensive. Didn’t have to use public transport at all though, apart from a boat down the river. Not sure about the nearest supermarket.

Summerhillsquare · 13/09/2025 07:42

No centralish London hotels with free parking. I am staying at Travelodge Docklands soon and even there parking in £13 for 24 hrs. Tis cheap though.

notenoughtogoround · 13/09/2025 07:46

We’ve stayed at Holborn Premier Inn, no parking but very central and near tube stop, shops and lots of restaurants, also Coram
Fields so it’s easy to take the kids somewhere for a run around. It’s also on a relatively quiet road.

I laughed at the idea of free parking in central London ----

@Eileen101 , I'd suggest you go into the Premier Inn website and look at the hotel locations. Cross reference with Google maps if you want to. That will show you where the nearest tube station etc is, and you could also have a quick look around your chosen area for cheap eateries.

Unless you're particularly wedded to Premier, have a look at Travelodge too; they are in direct competition with Premier and IME have smartened up a bit recently. They won't have free parking either though!

I'm staying in London in a few weeks time and was going to use a premier Inn, but discovered that a Travelodge, although on the same long road as the premier Inn, was closer to the local transport link and a bit closer to my planned destinations to visit.
