Do you live closer to your parents or your in-laws?

We are located over an hour away from both, but marginally closer to my parents.

A friend said she actually spends more time with the family who live further away than the more local ones, as when visiting, it tends to be a for bigger chunk of time.

About 5 minutes drive from both. It was a conscious decision to stay close, we are really close to our families and we see them regularly, they were a huge support to us when we had young families and we now support them as they age and need a bit of help.

About an hour from my parents, about 2 hours from PILs. It's unlikely we would have ended up any closer than that to PILs due to commuting reasons (PILs live in a rural location).

Edited to add: happy with that. Both sets of parents within fairly easy reach but not on the doorstep!
