Hardly even felt it. A bit uncomfortable for about two seconds then nothing at all. No cramps after. Went back to work despite having told my manager I would be off.

Mine couldn't be found! The gynaecologist had a bit of a rummage, then I had to go back another day for a scan. And maybe a second scan. It's a few years ago now, but they were very keen to make sure it wasn't floating about my abdominal cavity somewhere. In the end, it was decided that it had fallen out!

I was nervous too. Took seconds and barely any pain at all.

Mine was absolutely fine. Better than when they put it in. I did have what felt like a bit of a crash after I had it removed. Got a bit anxious and down. It passed though

TheZeppelinMothershipHasPopped · 08/09/2025 19:43

Pain free removal but bled very heavily for a couple of days after. Apparently can sometimes happen so don’t panic!

Blarn · 08/09/2025 19:46

My first was over in seconds, despite the insertion being horrendous. My second could not by found by my GP but I was sent to a practice with the equipment to remove stuck ones. They did an ultrasound, identified where it was (nowhere odd fortunately) and that too took seconds and nothing more than a brief uncomfortable feeling.

I did ha e slight cramping after but really mild.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 08/09/2025 19:50

Totally painless and easy. Didn't even flinch. But I was very crampy for about 48 hours afterwards, so I took Ibuprofen.

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 08/09/2025 19:50

can I ask, did you go for this? GP or somewhere else?

SomeLikeitSnot · 08/09/2025 19:52

I remove them alll the time as well as fitting them. 99% of people say ‘is that it?!’ ‘I barely felt it’ ‘100 x better than going in’ or words to that effect. You’ll be fine!

Glurgle · 08/09/2025 19:55

GP didn't do them so booked me into a BUPA hospital. No cost to me. Doctor felt around a bit, then turned around to write something down. I asked if he was going to do it soon? He said he'd just taken it out 😆

Riverbiscuits · 08/09/2025 19:57

It was barely noticeable, over in seconds.

newshoestoday · 08/09/2025 20:00

Mine was embedded and working its way through the walls of my uterus. The person who scanned me recommended surgery but the GP said the waiting list would be so long and it would get worse, so she reckoned she could get it out. I took all the painkillers I could get my hands on (which is more than most people as I have another condition) to the point that I couldn’t entirely walk on the way in, but I don’t remember it being that bad compared to having the thing put in. I am not having another one. Out is better than in generally as they pull the strings so you have a speculum, but in theory I think the arms are supposed to just fold up and slide out. On the way in they use a tentaculum (someone with more technical knowledge than me can come along and explain this better in a minute) which is basically pinching your neck of your cervix tight hard and that’s the horrible bit.

EffectivelyDecluttering · 08/09/2025 20:05

Slight sharp intake of breath but that's all, it was over in a couple of seconds. I did bleed for a few days afterwards which was weird after so many years of no periods. Had it done by a GP.

Biscuitsneeded · 08/09/2025 20:07

I remember the doctor warning me I was about to feel it and then immediately saying 'all done'. There was a brief crampy feeling - that was literally it.

YetanotherNC25 · 08/09/2025 20:21

Barely noticed it. Bit of cramping afterwards. But nothing to worry about. You’ll be fine.

mrsdolittle · 08/09/2025 20:48

i’ve had several removed. Completely painless. GP told me to cough as she removed it. Didn’t feel a thing. Having them inserted - well that’s a different kettle of fish!!!

Frannieisnthappy · 08/09/2025 22:26

Thank you all! Very reassuring to hear x

Didn’t feel a thing. I was prepared for pain like insertion. I bled heavy with clots a day or so later. Was not expecting that as was told to expect spotting so didn’t have anything more than panty liner in.

I felt less anxiety and relief after
