Lighthearted Parenting Fails

Last night I heard DS5 awake around 4am, he was quiet enough and sounded like he wasn't fully awake as in up playing. Now I know if I go in and check then its game over and hes up for the day so I lay in my bed listening for a couple of minutes to see if he would resettle. I then heard a noise that only lasted a second or two that sounded like he was vomiting, I sat up (to hear better obvs) but he then started quietly singing to himself so I lay back down, ten mins later and all was silent and I fell back to sleep.

Come this morning when I go in his room you'll not be shocked to read he had indeed vomited on himself and his bed! DD10 will do the same, vomit and just go back to sleep!

Thankfully it's rare my DC are poorly with vomiting, it's usually snots and coughs but does anyone else's DC do this?

Any other parenting fails anyone would like to share to make me feel not alone?

(DS is absolutely fine and has spent the day zooming about with the energy of ten duracell bunnies!)

My DD used to poo her pants when she was about 3 then swear blind she hadn’t, even though when wearing leggings there’d be a large rectangular shape protruding out the back! If we were out she point blank refuse to let me change her and run away if I tried, so I had to let it fester there till we got home, all the while never letting her sit down

This is one of many reasons why both my kids have cameras in their bedrooms.

My parenting fail is that my DS6 has a scar on his upper lip because I rugby tackled him when he was about 3. For context, I was trying to prevent him being injured, ended up causing an injury.

We all make mistakes Op, don’t beat yourself up over it.

We have a gorgeous cat. A cat I did not want at the time. Why do we have this gorgeous cat....?

Because me and DH forgot to attend DS school performance. The cat was our way of saying sorry.

@InMyHealthyEra I do actually have a camera in his room but it's currently unplugged as he was pulling at the wire and I was worried about him chewing on it (SEN & PICA) but you've reminded me to get my butt into gear and get it set up safely again!

DD2 did that once. I half heard a noise that could have been vomiting but also could have just been a cough (which she had at the time) and then nothing, she went straight back to sleep. DD1 had always woken if she vomited and it really didn’t occur to me that a child would go back to sleep instantly after being sick!

She was about 2, and when I went in in the morning she was sitting at the far end of her cot pointing angrily at the vomit at the other end as if to say “someone’s been sick in my cot!!”
