Set in a peaceful rural location, this three bedroom barn conversion presents a rare opportunity to acquire a characterful home with enormous potential. Requiring modernisation throughout, the property offers a blank canvas for buyers looking to create a bespoke countryside retreat.

The spacious interior features a generous sitting/dining room, ideal for entertaining or relaxing with family. Original features and rustic charm add to the appeal, making this a truly unique home.

Externally, the property boasts a detached double garage and driveway parking for several vehicles, making it perfect for households with multiple cars or those needing workshop space. A particularly special feature is the small private copse of trees adjacent to the home—offering a tranquil natural setting and a haven for wildlife.

⚰️(Please note the previous owner has been buried in a discreet corner of the copse). ⚰️

Located in a rural setting, this home combines seclusion with charm, all while being within a short drive of Petersfield and South Harting.

No different to living next to a graveyard. What's the big deal?

SambucusEbulus · 05/09/2025 23:42

Bof. I don't think that would bother me too much if I loved the house. (I do not love this house, however.) I lived beside an old cemetery before and found it very peaceful.

Family visiting the grave?

This is in the grounds of the house so one might have to accept visitors to the grave?

I probably wouldn't mind if it had been there for a while, a hundred years or so, just bones, no probs, but assume it is fresh?? And yes, it makes a difference.

A next door graveyard is entirely different. I wouldn't want to be digging there, but I might want to dig in my own garden.

It's a no from me.

Friendlygingercat · 05/09/2025 23:59

It would not bother me living next to a graveyard. At least you could not complain of noisy neighbours!

Hairshare · 06/09/2025 00:04

I’d be OK with the owner buried in the grounds. He must have expected the house to be sold at some point which would mean no family visits.

blondebombsite13 · 06/09/2025 00:06

Wouldn’t bother me. Especially as it’s a large plot and they are in a “discreet corner”.

They obviously loved the house, which is a good sign. The house does have a lot of potential.

I didn’t think you were allowed to be buried in your garden though. Would they have had to have requested some sort of special permission? Or may be you have to be sufficiently rural or something?

It appeals to me to be buried in my lovely garden, but I’m in a mid terrace in town. Pretty sure it wouldn’t be allowed Grin

Chameleonagain · 06/09/2025 00:08

Assuming it's marked then. Hardly a feature and restricts what you can do with the garden maybe. It's not like when someone has buried their pet. Wouldn't be for me.

OrangeSmoke · 06/09/2025 00:10

It wouldn't bother me, it'll come to us all eventually. Is there even a grave as such? I was imagining a simple burial in the ground, no (or very simple) marker.

In a way I think it's nice, the previous owner must have loved the house.

Can’t say I’d be bothered to be honest - I’ve had worse neighbours! I want to check access rights for visitors to the grave mind
