Starlyf power washer: has anyone got one?

I’ve just seen tbe Starlyf pressure washer advertised on TV. I am thinking it would be a good Christmas present for my hard to buy for DH (although I can see lots of things I would use it for too). But it does seem a bit too good to be true, so I thought I’d ask if anyone had one and what you think of it.

I've not used one, but I have my doubts about its effectiveness.

Some cordless stuff can be OK (screwdrivers, for example).

But something like a pressure washer really needs more "oomph" (technical term!) than a battery can really provide.

Or the battery can provide the oomph, but only for a couple of minutes before it becomes little more than a fancy nozzle on the end of a garden hose.

I've seen the adverts on TV for these and in all the demonstrations - the "dirt" has clearly been sprayed or brushed on purely to stage it and such that it would just wash off even with a watering can.

They never show it cleaning any real ingrained dirt - Why?

Happy to be corrected if anyone has any hands on experience with one. But based on my experience and anecdotal conversations with friends & family with other "cordless" tools - I wouldn't risk my money on it.

And I'd be reluctant to give it as a gift - If it does turn out to be useless, I wouldn't want the recipient to feel pressured (sorry!) to use it just because it was a gift.

Further to my last (and out of curiosity!) - I've just had a quick look at the specs of this to compare it with a traditional mains-powered pressure washer.

This has a "Peak Pressure" of 40 bar.... But doesn't mention how long it can sustain that pressure as the battery depletes.

By contrast, a "cheap" (£90) Karcher mains-powered pressure washer operates at 110 bar and won't diminish as there's no battery.

If it were me - While I was spending £50 on the battery operated one - I'd rather invest a bit more and get a "proper" one.

But, of course, your mileage may vary...

Thank you @AnneOnAMoose, the points you raise are things I was thinking about too. We do have a Kärcher pressure wash but it is limited by access to a tap and liked that the Starlyf could take water from eg a bucket for washing the car

In that case - I'd be spending that £50 on a hose and an outside tap or adapter to connect said hose to kitchen sink tap (if you're in a house where this is an option - a bit tricky in a block of flats!). Or trips to a car wash.

I'm not overly convinced by the bucket thing, either - I think that's just another gimmick to get a few more sales - exactly as you describe for your own circumstances...

I foresee two issues with the bucket...

  1. The inlet hose that dips into the bucket will keep falling out / over / twisting / curling up - So you'll forever have to keep going back to the bucket to re-position it - getting worse as the water level drops. (like those bathroom cleaner trigger sprays where the end of the tube invariably ends up out of the liquid, even though there's still half a bottle left!).

  2. Once you've overcome the above - it's then just going to suck water straight out of the bucket - so you'll probably need to keep taking the bucket back indoors to refill it.

If it's a decent pressure / jet washer - it's not going to use water sparingly...

If it uses water sparingly - it's not going to apply much pressure...

Or maybe I'm just too cynical...!! 😀

To be clear: we have an outside tap and a hose at the back of the house but the hose doesn’t reach that o be able to wash cars at thall front of the house. I also thought it might be good for washing tiles on the bathrooom eto
