Integrated washer dryer

Please would anyone share their thoughts on an integrated washing machine or washer dryer combo. I'm worried about the machine or door seal etc going mouldy because the door cannot be left open to air like a freestanding one. We're thinking of a new kitchen and don't have a separate laundry or utility area.

We have a non-integrated one for this reason. We got one that is tonally similar to the kitchen so it blends in a bit. Kitchen is dark colour so we got a grey washing machine. Looks fine!

I've had one for over a year now. No mould, I just give it a quick wipe after every use and use a washing machine cleaner regularly

Yep same - I rent so I don't have a choice and actually it's been incredibly reliable and does both washing and drying perfectly.

I'm currently shopping for an integrated washer-dryer. I've had positive experiences with them in the past. The drying is not as efficient as a stand alone dryer but great for occasional small loads if you haven't got enough space for separate machines. I had no issues with mould with the washer/dryers I think because the machine gets to dry out properly with the drying cycle. I just kept the door open occasionally and ran an empty cycle with cleaning solution or bleach from time-to-time. My washing machine however has gone mouldy in the drawer and the seal despite me keeping the doors open. I'm going back to the washer-dryer partly for this reason.

Don't bother with the dryer part, they're never, ever as good as a standalone dryer and you have to split loads in half to dry so there's always wet washing hanging around.

If you wash darks after drying whites, you’ll get fluffy white bits on your darks.

Just one thing to remember, might sound like stating the obvious; you can only do one thing at a time! My mom.opted for a washer dryer and sadly realised the could not transfer to dryer and immediately do another load as she had done when she had separate appliances.

I like mine, I don’t fully shut the door and you can’t really notice that the unit door isn’t fully ‘flush’ I always leave the full door open wide after use. Only me and DH see it.

Had them for about 30 years, in summer do not use the drying bit except for smalls. Would miss it greatly if I had to dry things in winter in the house.

I always have integrated appliances. I still leave the door open for a bit, then shut it.

We leave the door wide open at night when no-one is in the kitchen and then not fully closed during the day when not in use. Works fine.
