I discovered something yesterday that maybe everyone else knows but just in case….

…if you want to post something and you go to the Royal Mail website and print a postage label, for an extra 30p they’ll collect it from your house. Or from a designated safe place if you’re not in. For some reason I am insanely impressed by this!

I haven’t done it yet, but it’s such a good idea. I have no problems with Royal Mail and think they get a hard time. Apart from the price of a first class stamp. That’s shocking.

Going up again in October I'm told.

This is interesting

A delivery company called E* have just 'mislaid' my Vinted parcel (11 days and counting) and messaged to say another is 'delayed' so I'm really interested in this OP.

Why don’t you just say Evri? 😵‍💫 No need for the secrecy 😵‍💫
Royal Mail lose parcels too. Through Vinted, the Royal Mail pick up at home option is not available, though you can drop at the post office and lockers, they provide the label, IF the buyer chooses that option.

I tried the Royal Mail / Parcelforce pick up once, no-one turned up. And there was no way of knowing if they intended to come the next day, or any day, so I ended up cancelling it and lugging it to the post office anyway.

I use this service sometimes. It's free though? I've never been charged 30p.

It's not totally reliable but useful if there's no urgency and the item's too big for a regular postbox.

Good point-but they will bring the label for you if you want….

Oh wow! That's a game changer!
Thank you for sharing this.

Our postman is lovely and is very helpful but says he has some awful customers who really take advantage with this. He had one woman answer the door the other day and hand him a microwave. No box, no label, nothing. He had to spend half an hour helping her to pack it. He said it happens most days. Used the right way it’s fantastic but some people always spoil it.

I didn’t know about this service, and as I live rurally and it’s a bit of a shlep to the nearest locker or PO that hasn’t been closed down, it’s very useful info for me.
And others on this thread it seems.

In other news, not everybody knows everything you know. Tricky concept, but if you think about it for a bit, you might get it!

It is. But the post office you take it to don't get any money for handling it. I've taken to trying to buy cards etc when I do this to compensate, otherwise the post offices will end up closing.

This is true , there used to be two post offices locally both gone now. I am rural but it’s now 9 miles in the wrong direction for work or 5 miles past work.

It was free for ages, but now they charge 30p to collect from your house.
