First day back in the gym. Met my PT. We start walking to the first piece of gym equipment... and I leaked period. That hot, warm feeling you get when your tampon cannot cope with the flow. Fortunately, I had black leggings on. I made an excuse to use the bathroom. I was covered in it. A huge clot had fallen out. I was ages in the bathroom sorting it - or at least it felt like i was. I was then paranoid through the HOUR work out that it would happen again. I made another excuse to use the bathroom when I felt paranoid it had happened again. It hadn't. I purposely tried not to strain or exert myself too much in case it did happen again.
I'm so embarrassed. Obviously all the PT knew was that I was in the bathroom several times. My performance was shit because I was being so cautious. I made an excuse that I wasn't feeling too well.

Utterly mortified
And i have to go back

What with the weight gain - hence the gym. - and the fact I might have a chest infection (tbc) I just wanted to burst into tears. And still do the following morning

If you have a chest infection, I’d lay off the gym until you’re well enough.

yep this!

Period blood doesn't leak from the front. Our anatomy doesn't work that way.

Said by someone who has clearly never had a real horrendous period.

Your trainer would have seen it before you know. you should have just told him.

we're women, we get periods. Sometimes they escape. I doubt there's a PT alive who hasn't come across it.

Not shaming anyone. I have periods and a gym membership and I can see how it could happen, accidentally. Just saying that it's gross if you knew about it, which the OP did.

It’s blood not nuclear waste ffs.

Nothing to be embarrassed about - everyone who's ever had periods will have likely leaked at some point while out and about.

I second the poster who suggested period pants - wear with your usual tampon or pad for extra protection. M&S do decent ones for a reasonable price!
