Do you keep toys to pass down onto younger children?

My youngest is going to be 2 next month, we already have lots of toys he enjoys playing with form his older brother and sister and I’m starting to think there is nothing to buy for his birthday. I don’t want to just buy another version of the same toy as I don’t even have the space for more! Do you clear out the old toys and buy new?
we are taking him on a little holiday and he is only 2 so not aware of presents but would like to get him a couple things to open but no idea what as we have everything!! Should I be getting rid of the old toys to buy new?

For our sons first Christmas I spent £10..he had loads of 2nd hand toys and presents from family. He didn't know what we spent..
Fast forward 10yrs and he got a playstation costing a couple of hundred! I feel no guilt.
Save the money for when they are older..

I would get something new for his birthday, even if you purchased it second hand. Opening a new gift is exciting for even smaller children, and I think your older children would know that you are wrapping up a toy they already own.

And I'm reusing toys from my adult DC for my Grandchildren.. some of them are 30+ yrs old. DGS doesn't yet know the cost of things..new or passed down..

I'd get a bubble machine or something similar and a lovely cake x

We just had my sons 2nd birthday and he definitely knew it was his birthday. He loved unwrapping his presents, looking in each card etc. I was really surprised. We didn't spend more that £60. Then brought down my older sons old toot toot bits and has them set up in the morning. So wasn't seen as a present but was something new to play with. I would love to get away with wrapping up the older presents my my older son know they were his.

Definitely don’t get rid of things.
Perhaps think of things that run out like pens, stickers and play-doh, bubbles.
Perhaps he has an interest the other kids didn’t have? Or maybe there are new toys that weren’t available.
