Just that really - I've got sash windows, filthy on the outside but too scared to lean out, particularly upstairs. Is there a solution I'm not aware of?

Any one tried those magnetic window cleaners and can recommend a brand? They vary so much in price and all look the same so not sure how to know which work.

I tried to do ours at the weekend - shiny clean windows where I can reach - smeary mess everywhere else.... Place marking!

Buy a good quality long-handled squeegy.

Make sure you know the correct way to use a ladder.

Annoyingly a ladder isn't an option as all around the house is a rockery...odd I know!

Long handled squeegy that bends, somehow, anyone?

Water fed telescopic window brush. The kind you attach to your hosepipe and it has a soap insert and a squeegy on the edge of the brush

Dd sauntered down bleary eyed and told me someone in her Uni house bought one of these to clean the shower and it'd be easier than me hanging out as I was with a short armed brush or trying to balance on rocks with a brush on a pole!

Going to order one and give it a go anyway - thought I'd share as she says it helps a lot when they cba to scrub. Sounds handy!

Please report back as I also have sash windows and have been trying to find a way to clean them properly. Bought a bendy rod thing from amazon but found that really difficult to manoeuvre. It didn't do a great job.

whenimnotcleaningwindows · 01/09/2025 14:53

Will do - I can see I will be able to reach most of the outside window (pulling top half down and going over the top) with soap and give it a good scrub. It's how I wash the suds off that is the hard part. Maybe a jug of water?
