Just have to tell someone…I’m leaving teaching tomorrow!

Well handing my notice in that is. The relief is overwhelming. 13 years and I can’t do it anymore.

Don’t know why I’m posting but I just needed to tell someone.

My daughter left in June. She couldn’t even make it to the end of term as she was so stressed out. She’s now working in a completely different field and I can see how much happier she is. She’s works full time but has her afternoons free to spend with her young child which makes her very happy. It’s such a shame really because teaching was something that she wanted to do from a young age and she worked so hard to get there. She loved working with the children but it was everything else that she couldn’t cope with including receiving demanding emails from unreasonable parents and all the other stuff that teachers have to cope with. I wish you well in your future life.

Teachers are leaving and there has also been a massive shift in Home Education worldwide. There's going to be a lot of empty schools.

I'm a TA, and need to quit, but need to find something else to do.

(with a disability, neurodiversity and limited energy)
(and a hatred of making phonecalls!!)

15 hours in primary is killing me.

Yikes the NHS?! Good luck be been in it for 30 years and was envious when I saw your thread title. What I wouldn’t do to hand my notice in!

EveryChairIsWobbly · 01/09/2025 15:45

Good luck OP! I left 8 years ago after 12 years in the profession and much, much prefer my NHS job

madaboutpurple · 01/09/2025 15:50

Congratulations. I am sure you will be less stressed working for NHS and with luck people will appreciate you far more.

LittlleMy · 01/09/2025 15:55

@Fullofpudding Congrats OP!

Im intrigued though as to what role you will now be doing instead especially as you say you’re swapping one challenging environment for another?

Carolenarua · 01/09/2025 15:59

Congrats. I left after just 3 years and that was 11 years ago ! The relief was immense.. Hats off to you. Best of luck 🤞

Congratulations, OP!

I'd love to walk but it's just not possible yet. Maybe in three years. I've been doing it since 1998, with a couple of maternity/career breaks, and I am so done.

Wishing you all the best in your new career.

After 24 years I moved and now teach in the Middle East. I love it again.
